Title: Betting on Cinderella

Author: Petie McCarty

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Blurb:

Garrett Tucker inherits his grandfather’s casino empire and steps into the reclusive billionaire’s shoes as the “Prince of Vegas.” His first act is to buy a bankrupt casino in Biloxi. When he discovers embezzling in his new operation, Garrett goes in undercover. His prime suspect is the new finance supervisor—the spitfire brunette who stole his heart at first sight.

Andi Ryan moves to Biloxi to care for her godmother and takes a job as finance supervisor for the renovated Bayou Princess casino. She discovers someone is skimming from the till and starts her own investigation, worried she will be blamed for the theft when the new owner discovers her godmother has a gambling addiction.

Garrett’s rival Vegas competitor has sent a spy in to ruin the Bayou Princess, and Garrett and Andi are forced to work together to prove her innocence and discover the identity of their casino spy.

My Review:

At the wedding of his best friend, Rhett, Garrett spots a beautiful woman sitting in the pew. There’s an instant attraction but before he can speak to her, she vanishes. Meanwhile, Garrett gets word his beloved grandfather has died. Reeling from the loss, Garrett’s unprepared for the reading of his grandfather’s will. Garrett becomes heir to Crown Corporation and all the casinos that go along with it, including his grandfather’s pet project and flailing casino, The Bayou Princess. He heads to Biloxi to investigate what’s going on and discovers not only an embezzler but the beautiful woman from Rhett’s wedding is working at the same casino he now owns.

Andi flees from her best friend’s wedding to visit her godmother in Biloxi. She senses her godmother is in trouble and her suspicions are confirmed when she sees the tiny house on stilts her godmother’s now living in. To make matters worse, Andi thinks her godmother is a gambling addict. She needs to stick around and take care of her godmother, no matter what. She even takes a job at the Bayou Princess casino, which is across the street, as a financial supervisor.

Sparks fly between Garrett and Andi and soon start dating. But between Andi’s wicked stepmother and stepsister are her bosses at the casino and tailing her godmother as she gambles, she’s living the hellish Cinderella life of years gone by. The only thing that makes her smile is Garrett. His kisses melt her insides and she wonders if he might be her Prince Charming. But all is not as it seems and when Garrett’s identity is revealed at the unveiling of the Bayou Princess hotel attached to the casino, she runs away, back to Florida. Can she forgive Garrett for all the lies and let her heart show her the way or is it all too late?

I loved this original retelling of Cinderella where both the hero and the heroine are Cinderella. Petie McCarty sweeps the reader away to a modern-day fairy tale where there’s conflict galore, a sexy billionaire in disguise and an intelligent, caring woman taking care of her godmother. Betting on Cinderella is all aces and I highly recommend it!

If you’re looking for a romance filled with gambling, action, attempted murder, kidnapping and falling in love, pick this up right now.

Author Biography:

Petie spent a large part of her career working at Walt Disney World — “The Most Magical Place on Earth” — where she enjoyed working in the land of fairy tales by day and creating her own romantic fairy tales by night, including her new series, The Cinderella Romances. She eventually said good-bye to her “day” job to write her stories full-time. These days Petie spends her time writing sequels to her regency time-travel series, Lords in Time, and her cozy-mystery-with-elements-of-romantic-suspense series, the Mystery Angel Romances.

Petie shares her home on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee with her horticulturist husband, a spoiled-rotten English Springer spaniel addicted to pimento-stuffed green olives, and a noisy Nanday conure named Sassy who made a cameo appearance in Angel to the Rescue.
