Will Pepper be Able to Save the Ones She Loves? The Supernatural Pet Sitter: The Rescue by @DianeMoa

Title: The Supernatural Pet Sitter: The Rescue

Author: Diane Moat

Genre: Middle Grade, Fantasy

Book Blurb:

Pepper's adventure continues as the myth of trolls becomes a reality. The legendary monsters were thought to be extinct until they showed themselves as enemies of the Gnomes. When Pepper's family is attacked, it will take her connection with animals, along with the magic of friends and family, to rescue those struck by the trolls. Will Pepper be able to save the ones she loves, or will the overwhelming force of her foes strike her down?

My Review:

When you think all is lost, there is always hope.

There is a cave-in and the Neeley family are called to help rescue those trapped. Pepper and her family coordinate the search and being gnomes, they’re used to being underground. Pepper brings along a sprite to assist in finding those trapped. While searching, a troll appears.

Trolls are myths, right? Apparently not, just in hiding. Eons ago, trolls waged war with the elves and other magical creatures. Everyone thought they were long gone but strange attacks start happening and they’re aimed at Pepper and her family. When someone close to Pepper is attacked by a wickedly dark spell and slowly dying, Pepper works day and night to figure out how to reverse the spell. She even goes so far as to unearth an old enemy. Will the trolls succeed or can witches, gnomes, sprites and even the pacifistic elves band together to defeat the trolls?

Wow, such an action-filled adventure. Pepper and all my favorite characters are back, only this time, there’s an all-out war on gnomes. Pepper must do research and assembles her own scooby gang. As she delves into the past, she discovers what happened in the past and how she must gather immense strength to save her family from death. She grows immensely in this book which I loved. Fear is a powerful motivator and in the end, she must overcome her fears if she is to beat the trolls.

While there are some tense scenes, overall this is another great adventure. Children ages 10 and up will gobble this book (and the rest of the series) up. There’s light scenes, too, and I especially liked reading about Pepper overcoming her fear of swimming. The overall theme of family love and friendship come across clearly yet convincingly.

I must admit, there is a slight cliff-hanger, but it only whets the appetite for the next book in the series. I, for one, can’t wait to see what happens next!

Favorite Character/Quote: Normally, I list one character but, in this book, I have to choose two, Pepper and Luna. I loved the relationship between Pepper and her best-friend, Luna. They’re connected and speak telepathically. From Pepper’s fear of swimming to Luna’s crush on a boy, they share each other’s thoughts and feelings. It’s a terrific way to solidify true friendship and helping each other in their time of need.

My Rating: 5 stars
