Dad, wherever you are, you are gone but you will never be forgotten. -- Conrad Hall
Today is the twentieth anniversary of my dad's death. Thoughts of him, from his hearty laugh to his encouraging words, swirl around me. My heart aches for him and how his life was cut short but at the same time, I know he's with me, protecting and loving me.
I'm my father's daughter and my life is a reflection of him. He taught me many things but the most important thing he taught me is to love everyone, regardless of race, creed, sex, social standing or how much money they make. He taught me to see beauty within and how love can win over hatred and greed.
When I was in my crib, he would sing a Pink Floyd song about glittering gems and it's our song. I dedicate it to my dad. I love you so much, Dad! I'm shining bright for you, just like I promised. I miss you so much yet I know we'll be together one day.
Life is short, people. Don't let a day go by without telling those you love three simple words: I love you. Take my advice because you never know when they'll be gone forever.
