#PromotionWithPride Proudly Presents: Jack Gets His Man by @dehaggerty #RomanticComedy #PrideMonth #

It's Pride Month and every day, N. N. Light's Book Heaven will feature a book and an author from the LGBTQ+ community. I first read Jack Gets His Man almost three years ago. Not only did the dialogue make me laugh my head off, but the characters captured my heart. A hilarious romantic comedy/cozy mystery I highly recommend!

Title: Jack Gets His Man

Author: D. E. Haggerty

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Cozy Mystery, M/M Romance

Book Blurb:

Jack’s life is awesome. His store is making money hand over fist and his best friend has found love. So what if he’s feeling a bit restless and put out about his upcoming birthday and his ex is being a pain in his fabulous behind? That’s nothing he can’t handle. But then his smoking hot new bookkeeper discovers things at the store aren’t actually as they seem. Someone is playing fast and loose with the finances. Jack’s bestie and his gal pals, the gray-haired knitting detectives, jump at the chance to solve Jack’s problems. When they aren’t re-enacting scenes from spy thrillers, they’re setting Jack up on dates and generally insinuating themselves into his love life. They’re determined to find love for Jack as well as his missing money. Will Jack catch a thief or find love? Either way Jack’s going to get his man.

My Review:

Jack is living the best life ever. That is, until his sexy brand-new bookkeeper discovers a financial mess. Suddenly, Jack's life is spinning out of control. Someone he trusts is stealing huge amounts of money and rigging the books. Will Jack discover who's behind the betrayal and finally get his man?

This is a modern-day screwball comedy, complete with new crushes, annoying exes, extortion, best friends and a gang of elderly knitting Murder She Wrote wannabes. I laughed my way throughout Jack's misadventures, from hiring a bookkeeper to unravelling the mystery behind the missing money. The romance is sweet and the heat level is low.

What I loved most about this book was the way the author concentrated on the characters and plot. The characters flew off the page and I grew attached to them. I want to read more adventures of Jack and the gang.

If you're looking for a light, funny romance, this is the book for you!

Favorite Character:

Jack. I had a best friend like Jack when I was living in California years ago. Many times when I was reading this book, I could see myself in the character Izzy, Jack's best friend. I loved how honest and emotional he was. He came across as a living being rather than just a two-dimensional character in a romantic comedy.

My Rating: 5 stars

Author Biography:

Dena (aka D.E.) grew-up reading everything she could get her grubby hands on from her mom's Harlequin romances to Nancy Drew to Little Women. When she wasn't flipping pages in a library book, she was penning horrendous poems, writing songs no one should ever sing, or drafting stories, which she is very thankful have been destroyed. College and a stint in the U.S. Army came along and robbed her of any free time to write or read, although on the odd occasion she did manage to sneak a book into her rucksack between rolled up socks, MRIs, t-shirts, and cold weather gear. After surviving the army experience, she went back to school and got her law degree. She jumped ship and joined the hubby in the Netherlands before the graduation ceremony could even begin. A few years into her legal career, she was exhausted, fed up, and just plain done. She quit her job and sat down to write a manuscript, which she promptly hid in the attic after returning to the law. But being a lawyer really wasn’t her thing, so she quit (again!) and went off to Germany to start a B&B. Turns out being a B&B owner wasn’t her thing either. She polished off that manuscript languishing in the attic before following the husband to Istanbul where she decided to give the whole writer-thing a go. But ten years was too many to stay away from her adopted home. She packed up again and moved back to the Netherlands (The Hague to be exact) where she's currently working on her next book. She hopes she'll always be working on another book.
