Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain. When stress is eating away at my insides and I can't take anymore pressure, laughing at a joke or a funny moment helps me. My favorite thing to do is to watch a funny television show or movie. I laugh and I start to feel the stress abate. It's incredible but true.
