Sally works side-by-side with Jack while Trevor is hundreds of miles away in the city. The more time she spends with Jack, the stronger her feelings are for him. Sally’s torn between her new feelings for her best friend, Jack and her boyfriend, Trevor.

When Trevor shows up to propose to Sally right before Christmas and finds her in Jack’s embrace, she’s unsure which man she loves. Will it be her best friend and farmer, Jack, or will it be rich, successful Trevor? City or Country… only Sally’s heart knows what’s right and true.

Excerpt:

"I can't rescue you from this torment." He leaned forward, careful not to touch her. "This time, you have to rescue me."

She kissed him, pulling him closer. He moaned, his fingers burying themselves in her hair. After a moment, she came up for air.

Breathless she whispered his name. "Jack..."

"Yes?"

"What are we going to do?" Her heart swelled then contracted. "I don't want to hurt either of you."

He caressed her furrowed brow.

"You'll figure it out." His eyes lit up. "I've got a great idea. Let's go out on a proper date."

She raised an eyebrow.

"A proper date?" she asked.

He readjusted himself in his seat, reaching out to hold her hand.

"Trevor's taken you on tons of dates." He lowered his voice. "Let me take you out and show you a good time."

She cocked her head to one side, mulling it over.

"Well..."

"Listen, the Christmas dance is tomorrow night. Let's get dressed up and have a romantic evening."

She smiled.

"I would love to go dancing. I haven't been in ages."

He kissed the tip of her nose.

"Great, then it's settled." He flipped on the headlights and honked the horn once. "Magic's in the air, Princess."

She gasped as she looked towards the house, covering her mouth with her hands. Christmas lights lit the trees and the porch. The front yard was decorated with a nativity scene plus some of her favorite cartoon characters.

Jack grinned.

"How... when... oh wow!" stammered Sally.

"Linda and the kids, Marcus and I arranged it all. They decorated like mad while we were at the hospital."

Overcome with emotion, she hugged him.

"Thank you." She kissed him.

He caressed her cheek.

"You're welcome. We knew you weren't up to decorating this year so we wanted to surprise you."

He leaned closer.

"Are you surprised?" His eyes twinkled in the dark.

"Yes," she breathed. "With many things."

What I love most about the holiday season:

Christmas is our favourite holiday and we go all out. We have over eighty holiday music cds we listen to and we start watching our favorite Christmasy television shows, specials and movies in late August.

What we love most, though, is the time spent together, singing, snuggling and kissing under the glow of the Christmas lights. Mr. N cooks up a menu fit for royalty and Mrs. N bakes incredible desserts, cookies and pastries.
