It's #InternationalWomensDay and today's thought is #BalanceForBetter! #FridayFeeling #IWD20

I learned a few years ago that balance is the key to a happy and successful life, and a huge part of achieving that balance is to instill rituals into your everyday life - a nutritious balanced diet, daily exercise, time for yourself through meditation, reading, journaling, yoga, daily reflection, and setting goals. ~ Gretchen Bleiler

Today is International Women's Day. Around the world, people like us are talking about women and the theme for this year is balance for better.

As a woman, this theme is very close to my heart. Finding balance is something I struggle with. I juggle several balls in the air on any given day and honestly, it's exhausting. Between the day job, running a business, writing, marketing our own books, household chores, staying in touch with friends and family, playing and maintaining my relationship with my beloved, it's enough to make me stressed out.

I find balance by shutting off my work email in the evenings and weekends. I spend time with my soulmate, relaxing on the loveseat watching sports, movies, concerts, tv shows, etc. I sit out on our solarium with my feet up and watch the birds fly amongst the trees. I take several deep breaths and let all the stress of the day (or week) leave my body.

A balanced life is so important but especially for women. It's easy to get caught up in the theory of supermom or superwoman and not take time to regroup, to find peace. Not only is it healthy for your heart to find balance, but you'll be happier.

I just wanted to thank all the women friends online and offline for their love and support. Thank you for allowing me to be myself and for making me laugh when all I wanted to do is cry.

Thank a woman (or fifty) in your life today.
