“Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there.” ― John Wooden
Can the secret to success be as simple as character?
I've been binge-watching college basketball's Champ Week. I was in the middle of watching a team battle back from a ten point deficit when a thought popped into my head.
This is like life and going after your dreams. You battle against an opponent, dodging one obstacle after another in the hopes of becoming a champion.
But what happens once you reach the pinnacle? Do you stomp on all those who helped you get to the top or do you allow gratitude and humbleness to shape your character?
The great John Wooden makes a great point. Those who are champions yet embody a strong character are those we remember, admire and strive to be like.
No one achieves success on their own. There's a whole team behind them. When you achieve success and are a champion in your own life, thank those who helped you get there. Show gratitude and be the person filled with character.
