When you walk up to opportunities’ door, don’t knock it. Kick that b*tch in, smile and introduce yourself. –Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson
Opportunity is a series of doors. Do you politely knock or do you take The Rock's approach?
For most of my life, I've been timid when it comes to opportunity. I quietly knock and when nothing happens right away, I tip toe away. All that changed in 2004. I was tired of the life I was living and feeling trapped. I was head over heels in love with MR N and he proposed to me. I jumped at the chance to escape my current situation and moved over 3,000 miles to be with MR N.
I got married and with the help of MR N gained confidence. I started being more pro-active in my life and what I wanted to do. By the time 2008 rolled around, I was a happier person and outgoing too. I shed my turtle shell and let the world see me for who I am. Every time I saw an opportunity, I kicked down the door and introduced myself.
Did it make a difference?
It sure did! With confidence, I was able to succeed in many things I would've been too shy to try in the past. I started my publishing career. I started a blog. I self published not one but five books. I put my author picture out for the world to see.
What about you? Has a door of opportunity appeared and you are wondering whether to knock? Take The Rock's advice:
"Kick it in, smile and introduce yourself!"
You won't regret it and you might be surprised by what you find. Life is too short to be timid. Go ahead and release yourself from your own turtle shell. The world is waiting to see the real you succeed.
