Title: The Dragon’s Seamstress, (Antique Magic, book 5)
Author: Juli D. Revezzo
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Publisher: Raven Queen Publications
Book Blurb:
Since Caitlin and Trevor vowed to assist the Otherworld and opened their enchanted antique shop, they’ve seen many strange things. But now, someone comes in asking for a mundane item: kitschy “witches” brooms. Has their magical life returned to normal?
As the couple prepares to host a family gathering, fate intervenes and something they’ve never seen before roars into their life: A creature out of Welsh legend and fantasy: A blundering, somewhat underdeveloped dragon—not at all the type of dragon they ever expected to meet. Forced to undertake his unique challenge, Caitlin and Trevor are perplexed by his demands, but the magical beast is certain they are the only witches who can help him.
Doing so might unlock an ancient hidden secret. Refusing might destroy them.
Excerpt from Chapter 2:
Today, Maria wore jeans and a denim jacket, underneath which peeked a black t-shirt with the phrase, “I’m not yelling. I’m Cuban” in pink lettering. She’d grown a few more inches since summer, and was now taller by a tad than Caitlin.
“Does your mom know you’re here so late on a school night?” Caitlin asked.
“Yes. Do you have a minute?” Maria’s dark-eyed gaze took both she and Trevor in.
“For you,” Trevor said, “always. Come on in.”
Maria shook her head. “I was hoping you wouldn’t mind coming with me.” She stepped back and waved to the street.
A teen boy strolled by, tattered flannel shirt hanging loose over his belt, earbuds in his ears. As he went by, ogling Maria, he forgot to straighten his head and shuffled into the fire hydrant. One more glance to Maria and he flipped up his collar and ducked his head.
“Keep walking, pal,” Trevor grumbled.
Caitlin let out a fond laugh and patted his shoulder.
Maria groaned. “Oh gods, Trevor, shut up! What are you, my fath—big brother?”
He nudged her fondly. “Don’t you forget it.”
A squeak of embarrassment escaped her. Maria cleared her throat. “Anyway, as I was saying before you decided to police my love life, my friends and I found something today that I think you should see.”
“All right,” Caitlin said. “Show us.”
Maria reached out to [their pet Hound of Annwn] Rhonabwy and scratched his ears. “It’s on the beach. If you wouldn’t mind.”
Caitlin glanced at Trevor. He shrugged. “Sure,” Caitlin said. “Let me grab some shoes.”
Trevor followed her to gather his shoes and keys. “What do you think she found?”
“With any luck? Another mild-mannered Hound of Annwn for us.”
“If so, I hope she plans to adopt him.”
“Aww…” Caitlin sat on the edge of the bed to don her shoes and tie her laces. “You wouldn’t want another?”
“We have one to play sentinel. Why would we need another?” He met her gaze in the mirror. “Don’t answer that.”
Caitlin stifled a laugh, slipped into a sweater, and they soon regrouped downstairs. Together, they strolled down to the beach, Caitlin in step with Maria. “D’you want to tell me what this is about?”
Maria pushed a loose lock of black hair behind her ear, gazing up at the waning moon. “I wouldn’t really know how. You have to see it for yourself.”
“Understood, but I’d like to know what I’m going to see.” No little, wrinkly, ugly imp, please gods. Caitlin didn’t think she had the stomach—or the time—right now, to deal with that.
Trevor waved vaguely to the gulf. “Come on, squirt, help us out. You know we might be picturing anything from a demon, to a UFO, here.”
Maria eyed the serene waves along the shoreline. “This town does have that reputation. My brother says so, anyway. But it’s nothing like that. It’s a footprint.”
“What’s so strange about that?” Caitlin asked.
“Is it glowing?” Trevor added.
“No,” Maria said. “But it’s insane.”
“Is it? You’re a witch. What’s your impression of it?”
Maria mused over the question. “It’s … I don’t know. For all I know, it could be a dragon.”
Caitlin stumbled. “A what?”
