Author: Kate Moore

Genre: Historical Romance

Book Blurb:

Duke's daughter Lady Ophelia Brinsby resists her parents' plans to marry her to a dull man of rank. Her happy place is with her kind, witty best friends who have no rank at all. When her father orders her new groom Alexander to keep her confined to daily rides in the park, away from those dear friends, rebellious Ophelia must find a way to outwit the one man clever and charming enough to stir her heart. Runaway prince Alexander masquerades as a lowly groom in a duke's stable while he plots to save his tiny country from British domination. The last thing he expects to find is a spirited woman who makes him forget duty in the face of desire.

My Review:

A prince in disguise meets a woman who sets his soul on fire but what happens when she discovers who he really is? Alexander is a prince to a tiny country in the Mediterranean. He’s been educated by the top schools and has been on the run across Britain, staying two steps ahead of his enemies. He thought he found the perfect disguise, as a groom in a duke’s stable. But then he meets Lady Ophelia, the duke’s daughter, and boy is she a handful. She’s got an independent spirit he admires and is attracted to her. What can he do? He needs to be unseen so he can save his kingdom from British rule, yet all his waking moments are filled with Ophelia. Can he secure her heart while saving his country or will he have to choose between love and duty?

A Prince Among Men is a sweeping historical romance I couldn’t stop reading. From the very beginning, I was transported into the story. I connected with both Alexander and Ophelia right away. Alexander is not some playboy prince but a leader fighting for change in his tiny kingdom. Threats against him are very real and added suspense to the plot. Ophelia is an independent woman trapped by stringent rules of society. She’s a duke’s daughter yet yearns for the freedom to be herself. She’s also very intelligent which I loved. The romance between these two was deliciously slow burn with a dash of taboo thrown in. A historical romance not to be missed, A Prince Among Men is a moving, emotional, read. Highly recommend!
