My Review:

In Meg Thurgood’s lavish Hollywood life, she’s accustomed to people using her. But after taking the fall for a friend, she craves solitude and a new beginning. She rents a home right near the water from a reclusive man named Simon McAlter. Thinking he must be elderly, she’s in for a shock when she meets him for the first time. She’s not sure why he keeps to the shadows and is gruff with her. When she learns the tragic story from a new friend, her heart goes out to him. The more she interacts with him, the more she sees he’s just as lonely as her. Before she can stop herself, she’s falling for him. When her dark secret is revealed, will he push her away? Or will the joining of two reckless hearts heal deep scars?

A Reckless Heart is a brilliant Beauty and the Beast modern retelling with a twist. There’s no magical curse, no talking candles, but there’s plenty of heartache and romance. Jennifer Wilck is one of my favorite romance authors and A Reckless Heart is her best book to date. Her gift for creating relatable characters is on display in this story. On some level, don’t we all have a little beauty and a little beast inside ourselves? A Reckless Heart also has a strong friendship theme. Would you give up your freedom for a friend? This and other thoughts stuck with me long after I finished reading. The romance in A Reckless Heart is realistic and beautifully portrayed. Physical beauty is in the eye of the beholder yet inner beauty shines like a beacon for all to see. If you love Beauty and the Beast, you’ll want to read A Reckless Heart. If you’re a contemporary romance reader, you’ll thoroughly enjoy A Reckless Heart. Highly recommend!

Author Biography:

Jennifer started telling herself stories as a little girl when she couldn’t fall asleep at night. Pretty soon, her head was filled with these stories and the characters that populated them.

Even as an adult, she thinks about the characters and stories at night before she falls asleep or walking the dog. Eventually, she started writing them down. Her favorite stories to write are those with smart, sassy, independent heroines; handsome, strong and slightly vulnerable heroes; and her stories always end with happily ever after.

In the real world, she’s the mother of two amazing daughters and wife of one of the smartest men she knows. When she’s not writing, she loves to laugh with her family and friends, is a pro at finding whatever her kids lost in plain sight, and spends way too much time closing doors that should never have been left open in the first place. She believes humor is the only way to get through the day and does not believe in sharing her chocolate.

She writes contemporary romance, some of which are mainstream and some of which involve Jewish characters. She’s published with The Wild Rose Press and all her books are available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
