Title: A Song For Another Day
Author: Maria Imbalzano
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Book Blurb:
Gigi Jenson, an up-and-coming Broadway star, finds herself in Willow Springs, Vermont, for the summer as director of their first annual community revue. This sleepy town is worlds away from her vibrant and beloved New York City, but the experience she’ll gain will be invaluable to her career.
Jason Simmons has lived in Willow Springs his entire life. Working several jobs while writing music, he yearns for a contract to record his songs. The one chance he had to make it in Nashville he blew due to stage fright.
When Jason volunteers to help Gigi with the revue, sparks ignite but their dreams are taking them in different directions. Will their love for each other ever guide them to the same path?
Excerpt:
She put on her New York City walk and made it to her destination in seven minutes. So much for slowing down.
Erica was right. She could hear guitar music as soon as she crossed Mill Road. Swallowing uncalled-for angst, she wrapped her mind around her mission and strode over to his bench.
“Hi, Jason. Sorry to bother you.”
He laid his guitar against the end of the bench and looked up at her, his only acknowledgement a small nod.
She pulled her notes from her oversized purse, having left her briefcase, along with her suits, back at the inn. “Here is the list of people who signed up to play a musical instrument or sing who haven’t been assigned to Erica and Dylan.”
He took the index cards and skimmed them, a seeming agreement but again without words.
“Can you put five groups together and help them in selecting an appropriate song for their talents?”
“Sure.”
Why was he being so catatonic? “Will you be able to rehearse them?”
“Yup.”
She filled the air. “Hayley is making sure the community center and playhouse will be available for rehearsals if you need space. Erica said the music academy has enough room too. Just touch base with Hayley for dates and times if you can’t use the academy.”
“Will do.” He stared out at the river, as if lost in thought.
She followed his gaze but saw nothing of interest. “Well, I guess I’ll leave you to it. You seem distracted. If you need to go over anything with me, give me a call. Or come by the inn. Here’s my cell number.” She handed him one of the cards she’d had made up with her name, her position as revue director, and her phone number.
That got a chuckle. “You sure are prepared. And very professional.” He then gave her entire body a once-over, which just about melted her panties. “I see you took my advice and found some less-stuffy clothes.”
She had taken his advice and wore a pair of white capris, a black tank top, and white sandals. “See, I fit in now.” She didn’t miss the furrow on his brow. “Right?”
“Sort of.” He nodded. “Cutoff shorts and sneakers would work better, but my guess is that’s not your style.”
She probably had a pair of cutoffs in a drawer back in New York from her college days, but she had been going for a more mature and professional look since then. “I have sneakers to work out in. But I wouldn’t wear them otherwise.”
Her gaze drifted to a pad of staff music paper sitting next to him on the bench, but no musical notes were in view—at least not on the open page. She did notice words, though. “Are you working on a new song?”
“Yes.”
“Can I hear it?”
“No.”
His abrupt answer was like a physical blow. “Oh. Okay. Then I guess I’ll be on my way.” Unexpected hurt flowed through her, and she turned on her heel to leave.
“Wait. I’m sorry, Gigi. I don’t mean to be rude. When I work on a new song, I’m so into my inner self that it takes a while to come out. And I never share my work until it’s done. That’s when I try it out at Finnigan’s.”
So that’s why she’d only gotten one-word answers when she first arrived. If that was his process, she’d have to respect it. “I understand.”
He studied her face, his eyes amber in the sunlight, triggering a quiet riot within.
“I suppose I can make an exception.” His slow smile robbed her of oxygen.

November is a time to be thankful. What are you most thankful for this year?
In this devastating year for so many families struggling to pay their bills due to covid-19, I am extremely thankful that we still have our jobs and can live without the stress and fear of losing our home or paying our obligations. I am also thankful that no one in our immediate family has contracted the virus – yet. The year 2020 will not soon be forgotten.
