My Review:

Viewed from the outside and without giving this book the effort it deserves, one might view the author's approach in a didactic fashion. This is not true in any way. An extremely illustrative and illustrational aspect of this book is the pulling back the curtain to show the inner workings of the schizophrenic mind. The author is extremely brave to allow the world to see what happened inside his brain. That is the kind of courage rarely shown by a writer.

This book is also self-help for those trying to get a better understanding of the workings of their own mind. The author is attempting to offer readers a way to more creative and introspective thinking about spirituality and life. A treatise of this nature deserves credit for the attempt made.

It is interesting how the discussion of the fifth dimension led my mind to think about fifth dimension songs. Further interesting is how some of the songs really relate to what is discussed about the fifth dimension like Go Where You Wanna Go, Puppet Master and One Less Bell to Answer. This could be the soundtrack to the discussion of the mind's fifth dimension.

The author takes the reader deep into spirituality and uses an approach that might be difficult to be fully appreciated. This is not the point, though, in my view. The author simply wants each reader to get what they can out of a section. This book is not meant to be a textbook, just a guidebook. I personally only really remember Hegel from a Monty Python song.

An insightful part of this book is how through the author's personal experience with his mind that he found some grounding in Kabbalistic thinking. If you are interested in an analysis of Kabbalah as a tool for better understanding the mind, then this book is for you.

What we are blessed with here is a detailed look into the inner workings of the human mind. Everyone's mind is different but seeing into this mind in detail will make the reader more aware of their own mind.

In the end, this book is as much cathartic for the author as it will be helpful to readers. If you only get one thing from reading this book, it should be better understanding of people who deal with mental illness. If you now see them as people who have a problem, then this book has done it's job. A person isn't defined by their problem but how they live.

A thoughtful and creative book that will challenge the reader to think in new ways. If you enjoy the study of the human mind, then this book is for you. If you have been challenged by mental illness or know someone who has then this book is for you. A solid work that will keep a reader thinking more and more.
