She leaned in and touched her lips to his. His pulse jerked and he hardened. Damn. How was he going to turn her down without hurting her more? When her fingers began an exploration of his chest, he grabbed her arm and held it with his. “Ginny.” His voice deepened to a growl. “You’ve got to listen, honey. You’re not thinking straight. If you were yourself, you’d have already had my head for coming in here.”
Her body jerked away. “Don’t tell me what I’m thinking or not thinking. You’re the boss but you don’t get that power. Kiss me.” She waited a heartbeat and said, “please?”
He knew it was wrong, but he couldn’t refuse. Something in her face made him understand how tightly she was wound. He leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. Instantly, his control slipped a notch. When her tongue probed tentatively, he nearly lost it. He opened for her and let her explore. Fireworks exploded in his mind as she continued her search. Dear God, she was sweet.
She pulled back and looked at him in the faint light. He placed his hand against her cheek, caressing, comforting. She moved her mouth to kiss his palm. Once more she stared into his eyes. “I need you, Hayden.”
