Title: Adela's Solemn Vow (Rejected Mail-Order Brides Book 11)

Author: Nancy Fraser

Genre: Historical Christian Western Romance

Book Blurb:

Will a case of mistaken identity leave Adela McIntyre alone in an unfamiliar town with no way to fend for herself?

When her long-time employer decides to move back to England, twenty-six-year-old lady’s companion, Adela McIntyre, finds herself out of a job. She’s offered the opportunity to marry a well-to-do banker who works for her employer’s family holdings in the small town of Comstock, Colorado. Given her marital prospects at her advanced age are few and far between, Adela eagerly accepts.

After all, who wouldn’t want to embark on a westward adventure, and a new marriage, at the same time?

Her intended groom believes he’s agreed to marry the heiress granddaughter of his bank’s founder and, upon meeting Adela, he rejects her for his own nefarious reasons. Alone in a strange town, Adela is desperate for employment and a place to live.

Keenan (Key) Bristol is the town’s new marshal. This is his fifth assignment in the past four years and, as promised by his bosses, his last transfer. Maybe now, he can put down roots and eventually settle in with a wife and a family. Although the town is small, there are a few young, single women of faith who won’t mind living on a lawman’s salary.

The arrival of the posh woman from Boston has the town in a stir, and Key’s thoughts going where they shouldn’t. Why, when all he wants is a simple life, is he attracted to the one woman he can surely never win?

My Review:

Adela is at a loss when her intended groom rejects her, thinking she’s a rich heiress. When she meets the handsome marshal, she wonders if he’s the key to her happiness. Can she forge a new life with Key? Adela's Solemn Vow is a heartfelt historical western romance I thoroughly enjoyed. Nancy Fraser takes the reader into the western frontier through descriptive narration, smooth plot progression, characters that’ll melt your heart, historical accuracy, and a strong faith undercurrent. Truly, an unputdownable read.

Adela's Solemn Vow is part of the Rejected Mail-Order Brides series, one I truly connected with. Adela is a wonderful heroine. She can’t help what happens to her and her reactions are realistic. My heart broke for her. Her faith keeps her going and it’s admirable. When she gets her happy ending, it’s a joyful experience.

Nancy Fraser is one of my favorite historical western romance authors. She writes with an expert pen, pulling readers into the story. Her emotional narration and characterization grab the reader from the first page. The historical accuracy, though, is what makes Nancy Fraser a one-click author. It’s like transporting back in time.

If you’re looking for an immersive, emotional, historical romance set in the western frontier, you’ll be remiss if you don’t read Adela's Solemn Vow. I can’t recommend this book enough.

My Rating: 5++ stars
