Something big fell on my car!
Are you injured?
No, but my roof’s caved in.
Is the tree still on your car, sir?
It wasn’t a tree.
Well, what is it that fell on your vehicle?
I don’t know it’s gone.
Chapter 1
“No way.” Agent Sam Carter slid across the patched red vinyl booth intending to make a break for it. “No New Jersey for this guy.”
“Come on, Sam. It’ll be fun.” Sheriff Holly Stone stuck her leg out of the diner’s booth and blocked him. “Besides, Uncle Martin and Aunt Dee just got back from their honeymoon and want us to go RVing with them.”
Sam sat back down. He didn’t want to leave his unfinished dinner of a cheeseburger all the way and fries anyway. Besides, he still had brownies coming. “Let me get this straight. You think all of us, and that mangy hound they rescued, will have fun piling into Uncle Martin’s truck to camp in New Jersey?”
“No, I told you we would meet them.” Holly rolled her eyes. “You never listen to what I’m saying. We’ll catch the flight tomorrow. Then grab a cab at the airport to take us to a rental place. We will have our own recreational vehicle.”
Sam began to twirl his long mustache. At the Government Anti Spectral Program, or G.A.S.P. as those in the know called it, Ronnie was bugging him to take time off. “Do you think I can rent a motorcycle?”
