My Review:
The world will tremble when Envy discovers the truth, and that’s not even counting the minutes until she gives birth. Will she snuggle up with her baby daddy or with the man who captured her heart eons ago? Air & Darkness is the continuing saga of Envy and the universe surrounding her. Just when things are peaceful, chaos ensues. AK Nevermore has penned a book more incredible than her first book in the series. To say I was riveted while reading is a vast understatement. OMG! The ending! The narration is descriptive, snarky, and addictive. The world-building is outstanding. The dialogue had me chortling one minute, gasping the next. The characters are vivid and leap from the page. Air & Darkness is an unforgettable urban fantasy romance, the likes not seen in over three decades.
Let’s talk about Envy, since everything revolves around her. She’s our heroine and very, very pregnant. Her inner thoughts are at times hilarious, snarky, self-centered, and exemplify who she is and what makes her tick. She’s full dae, which means she’s very powerful. I connected with her on many levels. I wondered what I would do in her shoes which allowed me to vicariously live through Envy. A well-written heroine with flaws and facets. I found her strength to be her most endearing quality.
The rest of the characters are also well-conceived and flawlessly written. The cast of characters is large, but I was able to keep them all straight, thanks to AK Nevermore.
The world-building is exceptional and works hand in hand with the descriptive narration. AK Nevermore creates a world unlike our own and steeped in mythology.
Reading Air & Darkness is like taking a vacation. I enjoyed every minute and was sad when it ended. I can’t wait for more in this series.
