Title: An Angel’s Wylder Assignment

Author: Tena Stetler

Genre: Paranormal Historical Western, Time Travel Paranormal

Book Blurb:

Warrior Angel Killian Dugan’s annual trip to the family castle in Scotland is shattered by the arrival of Legion Commander North. Killian’s skills are needed for an urgent time travel assignment. A rogue demon has escaped back in time. He must discover the why and where and stop the demon before it can damage the past and change the future.

Killian’s girlfriend Chinoah Grace, a Native American shapeshifter is included in the mission which takes them to the wild west town of Wylder, Wyoming in the year 1878. She will have her hands full fitting in and making friends.

Nothing is as it seems. They encounter visions, spirit quests, and a mysterious shaman. On top of it all, blending in as a blacksmith is more physically difficult than he imagined. But not as challenging as keeping his hands off his undercover wife. Will they complete their assignment or run out of time?

My Review:

A demon on the loose in 1800s old west sends angel Killion and his girlfriend shifter Chinoah back in time to track down the demon before time runs out. All Killian wants is a relaxing time at his family’s castle in Scotland with his girlfriend, Chinoah. But when the Legion Commander arrives uninvited with a new assignment, Killian groans. It appears he and Chinoah must time travel back in time to the 1800s wild west town of Wylder, Wyoming. The mission: find and stop a demon before it destroys history and the present-day’s treaties. Killiam and Chinoah must blend in as a blacksmith and his doting Native American wife. They soon discover there’s more to this assignment than they were first told. Can they stop the demon in time and more importantly, can Killian keep his hands off his very alluring pretend wife?

An Angel’s Wylder Assignment is a paranormal historical western I enjoyed from start to finish. While there are romantic elements in this story, the couple is firmly committed to each other already. I liked that the couple was already a couple. It brought a different vibe to the story. I connected with both Killian and Chinoah right away. Their growth as individuals and a couple made An Angel’s Wylder Assignment shine. The plot moved at a great pace with intricate world-building and poignant narration. Tena Stetler is a natural when it comes to paranormal world-building but this time she adds historical western world-building to her repertoire. The scenes in Wylder were not only historically accurate but intriguing and educational. Who knew being a blacksmith was so backbreaking and exhausting? I loved the fish-out-of-water subplot of these two in the past. It added authenticity to the overall story. If you’re like me and love time travel reads, you’ll enjoy An Angel’s Wylder Assignment. If you’re a paranormal or historical western reader, you’ll enjoy this mash-up. Brilliant from start to finish, An Angel’s Wylder Assignment needs to be on your bookish bucket list. Highly recommend!
