Excerpt:
The Painful Piercing
We were at a jewelry store in Aurangabad, India. My mom was shopping for jewelry and me and my sister were looking at the Ãbeautiful decorations. ¨Wow!¨ I exclaimed, ¨Beautiful!¨ My sister added. My dad was on his phone sitting on one of the gorgeous benches. Then my mom asked me to come get my earrings cut off.
¨Ok, coming!¨ I sort of whisper-shouted. So I went and my sister also came. After they cut off my earrings, my mom suddenly asked, ¨Do you guys pierce noses?¨
Then a man in a blue shirt replied, ¨Yes, we do!¨ My mom looked at my sister, my sister nodded in excitement. Then I looked at my mom and asked if I could get my nose pierced too.
So my mom said, ¨Are you sure? It will hurt a lot,” Then I begged, ¨Pleaseee?¨ Finally my mom gave in, ¨Alright fine,¨ when she said that I did a little dance in my head.
I was so excited I couldn't wait! I was also a bit nervous. Then the man in the blue came close to my sister and marked a spot on her nose with a pen. Then another man in a white shirt was heating up a piece of gold which was actually heating up one of my old earrings. Then he gave the heated piece of gold to the other man, then he slowly poked a hole in my sister's nose. My sister’s eyes filled with water but she didn't cry.
