My Review:

Looking for a space opera that’ll keep you guessing until the very end? In the latest installment of The Cyborg Chronicles, Pauline Baird Jones takes us on a wild adventure. I couldn’t put it down. When I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about the story and the characters. The plot is complex with wormholes I didn’t navigate or expect. The characters beamed me to another stratosphere. The world-building is in a class all its own.

Let’s start with the world-building. Pauline Baird Jones is a five-star admiral when it comes to world-building. She creates a world that is steeped in sci-fi yet 100% believable. Layers upon layers are written with precision so the reader can just sit back and enjoy. Intricate details are peppered throughout the plot, each one adding to my enjoyment.

The characters are an added element to this incredible story. The realism of Az’s issues as a cyborg was heartfelt and connected me to him. My heart went out to Jacklyn as well. The two of them together working out their roles in this new life was so well done.

The action is sublime. Detailed down to the last atom had me whipping through the pages. My breath caught in my throat several times. Reading this book is like streaming my fave show.

The romance is written with prowess. It’s not overdone, and it takes a backseat to the scifi/space opera. It also progresses at a good pace.

If you’re a space opera fan, this needs to be your next read. You do not need to read them in order. You’ll be addicted as I am. Strongly recommend this book.

My Rating: 5+ stars
