Author: Peggy Jaeger

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy

Book Blurb:

Innkeeper Maureen O'Dowd lives to cook and bake, spoils her family and friends, and is an expert at keeping secrets, especially about the man who's held her heart for years.

Police Chief Lucas Alexander is dealing with an aging father and a moody teenage son, and he's in love with a woman who only wants to be friends. How can these two fiercely private people reveal their feelings for one another without destroying the friendship they already have? And if they're successful, will another secret, if revealed, drive a wedge between Maureen and Lucas that can never be repaired?

My Review:

Maureen O’Dowd has a secret and oh boy, it’s a big one. She’s madly in love with family friend Lucas Alexander and has been since she was eight years old. He’s now divorced and has a teenaged son so technically he’s available. But alas, she can’t screw up her courage to confess her feelings for him. A ray of hope glimmers when he gets all jealous when a handsome man asks her out. Is he just embracing his big brother role, or does he want her as much as she wants him? What if their romance turns into more than a fling? A secret so hidden, even from her sisters and Nanny, is revealed, will it tear Mo and Lucas apart?

Baked With Love is an emotional friends to lovers romance, one which will burrow its way into your heart. I’ve loved each book in Peggy Jaeger’s A Match Made in Heaven series, but this takes the cake (pun intended). Mo is the O’Dowd sister I most relate to. She’s the ultimate caregiver, thinking of others before herself. She bakes incredible goodies, especially when she can’t sleep. Written with intricate precision, Mo is, in my view, the quintessential heroine. She’s kind, funny, caring, and has a wicked sense of humor. She’s self-effacing and humble. She’s not perfect but has her own set of flaws. She needs a hero to take her outside of her overthinking mind. The characters in Baked With Love are well-written and leap from the pages. Peggy Jaeger’s sublime writing makes the reader forget he/she is just reading a story. My heart naturally went out to both Mo and Lucas, as well as the other characters. Heartfelt, emotional plot incorporating several themes including caring for a parent, single parenting, weddings, pregnancy, health, risking it all for love, and more. I couldn’t stop reading and neither will you. If you’re looking for a genuine contemporary romance that will make you cry sad and happy tears at once, pick up Baked With Love. This is, hands down, the best book Peggy Jaeger has written, and I can’t see what she comes up with next. Highly recommend!

Author Biography:

I'm a #contemporaryromance writer who writes #RomComs about strong women, the families who support them, and the men who can’t live without them. If I can make you cry on one page and bring you out of tears rolling with laughter the next, I've done my job as a writer! #Family and #food play huge roles in my stories because I believe there is nothing that holds a family structure together like sharing a meal…or two…or ten. Dotted with humor and characters that are as real as they are loving, I bring all topics of daily life into my stories: life, death, sibling rivalry, illness and the desire for everyone to find their own happily ever after. Growing up the only child of divorced parents I longed for sisters, brothers and a family that vowed to stick together no matter what came their way. Through my books, I've created the families I wanted as that lonely child.
