My Review:
Phillipa struggles to find balance in her life but all that changes when she meets Decker. After surviving an abusive husband, Phillipa understands all too well that wealth and prestige don’t prevent domestic violence. Now, she donates her time to helping women in abusive situations by advocating on their behalf. She provides support by any means necessary. The first time she meets Decker is in the ER. She finds him irritating, at first, but there’s an undeniable connection. The more time they spend together, the better she gets to know the real him. They’re complete opposites, in more ways than just background and wealth, but somehow, they balance each other out. Can Phillipa find harmony with Decker, or will their differences tip the scales, leading to heartbreak?
Balance is an all-encompassing women’s fiction/romance that took my breath away. First off, you’ll need a few tissues handy while reading. Balance’s descriptive narration is emotional, heart-wrenching, and brought tears to my eyes several times. The characters dug deep into my heart and became a part of me, especially Phillipa. The complexity of Phillipa as the main character impressed me. She has layers of depth which I enjoyed peeling back as I read Balance. Peggy Jaeger’s ability to write intricate stories with multi-dimensional characters is on full display in Balance. The romance itself was a joy to read with two unlikely people falling in love. The romantic tension was thick as pea soup which made the anticipation simply delicious. A perfect blend of women’s fiction and contemporary romance, Balance is a must-read! Highly recommend!
