Title: Benefits of Friendship
Author: Theresa Stillwagon
Genre: Sweet contemporary
Book Blurb:
All Cassandra Rogers wants is to expand the family bookstore. No matter what or who tries to stop her, she plans on fulfilling that dream. Until she hears a second person wants the building, and her dreams are once again compromised.
And so is her peace of mind when she learns who the other interested party is—Jack Fontaine, her secret crush from over a decade ago. Once a bullfighter with the rodeo and now a veterinarian, Jack and his interference affect more than just her business.
Then her mother states a plan to hire a PI to find her brother, and a promise made to her deceased father comes back to haunt Cass.
Excerpt:
“You okay, Cass?”
A small child pulled away from her mother’s hand and raced into the park. Young, joyful laughter seized her.
A bittersweet ache filled her heart as a young man moved behind the woman and encircled his arms around her waist. Such love filled the scene, such peace.
“Cass?”
Concern echoed in that single word; yet she couldn’t move her gaze from the family unit. “Some people are so lucky.”
A soft hand settled against her chilled skin. “You need to have faith.”
“Yes.”
“If I were you, I’d go and speak with Mr. Martinson’s lawyer.”
Thankfully she moved back to their original subject.
The couple disappeared behind a set of trees. The boy’s laughter faded in the gentle wind.
She sighed and twisted toward her. “I don’t think it would do any good. I got the impression he might have had another offer, a better one.”
“Probably from that new vet in town,” Angie offered. “I heard he doesn’t want to use the old vet clinic.”
“I heard the same thing. That building did get damaged badly in the fire, so I don’t blame him. But why does he want the same building as me? There are better choices for him.” A feeling of heaviness sank her into the seat. “Oh, why did I have to change things?”
“Change is good.”
“Even when it’s not necessary,” she added. “The bookstore was doing fine the way my father ran it. Now…everything is so messed up.”
“Things will work out.” Angie slid from the booth and stepped toward the counter. “Believe me.”
Gratefulness lifted her unease. “I hope so.”

Author Biography:
Theresa Stillwagon has been writing most of her life. Since one of her teachers praised a poem she wrote for a class assignment, she's been putting words together in the hopes of seeing them in print. Not caring if anyone other than herself ever read them. Her dream came to reality in 2008 when she signed her first writing contract.
Life got in her way, so she stopped writing for a few years. Unfortunately, characters kept yelling at her to write their stories, so she dusted off her laptop and started writing again. Now she’s happy doing what she always loved.
A former resident of Georgia, Theresa retired and moved back to her birth state of Ohio, with her husband of over forty years and her cat, Frankie. (She still wondering why.)
She's currently writing on another story in her Just Like Sisters series.
Characters are still yelling at her, and Theresa is fine with that.
