5 stars for Blue Lady's DÉJÀ VU on the SEAS by @StephanyTullis #womensfiction #bookreview #99cents

Title: Blue Lady's DÉJÀ VU on the SEAS: A Story of Betrayal, Forgiveness & Restoration: An Angelica Mason Short Story

Author: Stephany Tullis

Genre: Women’s Fiction/Women’s Psychological Fiction

Book Blurb:

If one could sleep one’s self to death…

Déjà Vu on the Seas is a story of an emotional journey of personal exploration and search for self. It explores a woman’s fear, confusion and healing, asking the question: Which takes more courage—ignoring the fear or staring it in the face?

Angelica Mason is known in political circles for her highly effective ‘do it my way or hit the highway’ MO. Not one to be intimidated, she’s never second-guessed herself. Once she’s made up her mind, she perseveres to the finish. No regrets. Until now.

Traumatized by several near-death experiences, including a kidnapping, Angelica returns to her safe place and finds the security she needs in her king size bed. She succumbs to the dense fog that has smothered her spirit. And sleeps.

Angelica is only awake long enough to ascertain two things. Something is seriously wrong. And more importantly, she needs to do something about it. She accepts her only alternative. Escape.

Join Angelica as she embarks on a journey of a lifetime--one that is full of unknowns but with her commitment to search and prepare to accept whatever she finds.

My Review:

After a harrowing experience on her last case, all Angelica Mason wants to do is sleep. She wonders if she can sleep her life away, but the answer alludes her. When her bestie Nik performs a welfare check and sees her at her worst, it’s a wake-up call of sorts. Nik can’t believe the state she’s in and threatens to bring JaRew with her when she visits again. Angelica needs an escape. What better escape than on a cruise ship? There’s only one problem: she’s petrified of water. With the help of a little girl and of course her alter ego, Blue Lady, Angelica comes to grips with what happened. Can Angelica find the peace she desperately needs to move on, or will she stay paralyzed in her fear?

Blue Lady's DÉJÀ VU on the SEAS is an emotional story of what happens when one woman is locked in fear and needs closure to move on. It’s a theme anyone can relate to and identify with. Life can get overwhelming and it’s easy to just escape from the pain and sorrow. Stephany Tullis explores how damaging this can be with emotive descriptive narration. I hadn’t read but a single page and I was right there with Angelica. The connection between Angelica and the reader is deep and so moving. I found the discourse between Angelica and her alter ego, Blue Lady, captivating. My oh my, Blue Lady is a wise woman and helps guide Angelica on the right path. Blue Lady's DÉJÀ VU on the SEAS is brilliantly written with a plot that moves at a nice easy pace. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, even though it was a short story. I look forward to reading more from this series and Stephany Tullis. Highly recommend!
