Title: Boxing Day: A Romance Novelette
Author: Catina Noble
Genre: Contemporary Holiday Romance, Romantic Mystery
Book Blurb:
This Christmas season hasn’t been working out all that great for Becca but it seems that somebody has a special surprise in store for her. Something she’s been missing: icing on the cake.
My Review:
Boxing Day by Catina Noble is a delightful, heartwarming romance novelette that’s perfect for a cozy winter evening. This is the kind of book you want to curl up with hot chocolate in hand, as the snow falls softly outside. Canadian author Catina Noble crafts a story that’s short and sweet but still manages to leave a lasting impression.
The back cover blurb, while intriguing, doesn’t fully capture the essence of the story. It hints at a Christmas surprise, but Boxing Day is so much more than that. It’s a journey through the holiday season with Becca, the main character, who is surprisingly well-developed for a short story. Becca feels like an old friend—so relatable and genuine that it’s easy to get emotionally invested in her journey.
Initially, I found myself unsure of where Becca’s choices were leading her. At one point, I even wished I could give her a piece of my mind, much like you might want to do with a close friend heading down a questionable path. But just as my frustration peaked, the story delivered a clever twist that had me hooked. Noble’s ability to subvert expectations and keep the reader engaged is impressive.
The pacing is perfect for a novelette. The story held my attention from start to finish, and by the time I reached the end, I felt satisfied—but also yearning for a sequel! The conclusion wrapped things up nicely, but there’s enough charm and depth in these characters to make me hope for more.
Reading Boxing Day is like stumbling upon a quiet indie movie you didn’t expect to love but end up utterly enchanted by. It’s a little hidden gem, filled with warmth, romance, and the kind of comfort we often crave during the holidays.
So, grab your favorite mug, a cozy blanket, and a copy of this lovely story. You won’t regret it.
