N. N. Light's Book Heaven presents Brenda Sparks #authorspotlight #paranormalromance #pnr #paranormal #mustread

Hello, readers. It’s an honor to be featured today on N. N. Light’s Book Heaven!

I have always loved all things spooky ever since I was age three and the Snow White ride at Disney World scared the you-know-what out of me. So, what did my little toddler self do when she got home? Cry? Have nightmares? Nope. Preschooler Brenda turned on the record (yes, I’m that old) of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs movie soundtrack and listened to it while hiding under her bed.

Run from danger? Who me? Nah. More like I run towards it. I love the racing heart and flood of adrenaline being a little scared brings, so it isn’t a surprise that when I decided to become an author, paranormal romance was my genre of choice.

I adore writing. It is my therapy, my time to retreat from the real world and into an imaginary world of intrigue, mystery, and fantasy. That is why I write paranormal romance. Writing about the paranormal world allows me to tell the story I want to tell, without any pesky human constraints to get in the way. That’s one reason why I enjoy incorporating paranormal elements in my writing.

I think most of us would like to be the makers of our own world. To have control over who lives, who dies, who receives blessings in their lives, and who gets what they deserve from Karma. There are a few who actually get to experience that kind of power, and they are called author, writer, storyteller.

When driving to work one day, my inner world began to form. Much like the universe, it started with a bang. A violent scene that played in my mind’s eye as I drove down the interstate. A scene where two vampires were locked in a heated battle. The winner’s reward? The love of his long life.

My paranormal world developed from that one scene into several stories. I found myself wanting to share the world I created with others, hoping they would enjoy the inhabitants as much as I did, so I put my fingers to the keyboard and started typing.

It took me several years to teach myself the craft and finish the first manuscript. I learned how to write by reading what others had written. Read. Write. Read. Write. Research. Write. So goes my life and I love it.

Title   Bewitching the Immortal (A Holiday Immortals Series Novella)

Author   Brenda Sparks

Genre  Paranormal Romance

Book Blurb

In the shadowed realm where death and magic intertwine, the Grim Reaper dutifully guides souls to the afterlife without question--that is until the night Azrael encounters Tabetha Calderon. Far from ordinary, the witch presents an unprecedented challenge: her soul cannot be taken.

Tabetha’s life, a delicate balance of spells and secrets, is shattered by a mysterious murder that leaves her soul restless. Desperate for justice, she and Azrael embark on a perilous journey to uncover the truth. As they unravel the web of deceit surrounding her death, their bond deepens into a whirlwind of forbidden love and desire.

Yet, just as they edge closer to discovering the truth, fate intervenes, threatening to tear them apart, and Azrael faces an impossible choice between his duty and his heart. Can their love transcend death itself, or will Tabetha forever be lost to the shadows?

Excerpt

An ember flew from the dying fire as if it spit the last of its breath. The sparks passed through the witch’s soul and landed in the shadow on the floor. It rolled up to the head of the shadow.

Head? What? A chill raced up the Grim Reaper’s spine. That can’t be! Souls don’t have shadows.

Azrael’s gaze raked the floor in disbelief, seeking an explanation. Finding none, he scanned the room, determined to find the cause, but though impossible, the shadow came from Tabetha’s soul.

Just as he opened his mouth to mention the oddity, Tabetha’s form solidified. The next second, the beautiful witch’s body wavered and faded until it was once again ethereal. If he’d blinked at the wrong time, he’d have missed it.

Surprise widened Azrael’s eyes, and his mouth gaped open. “How did you do that?”

“Do what?” asked Tabetha.

“Become solid?” His heart raced.

“I do not know what you are talking about.”

“You were solid. I saw you become solid. Ordinarily, souls can’t do that.”

Tabetha shrugged, and both eyebrows jacked up onto her forehead. “Maybe I’m not an ordinary soul.”

“Perhaps you aren’t.” Azrael rubbed his chin thoughtfully before he continued, ticking each point off on a finger as he listed them. “You can’t remember how you died. You are a witch. You just became corporeal. I think you are very special indeed.”

As much as he knew he shouldn’t, there was no other choice.

Azrael pursed his lips together. “I’m taking you to the land of the immortals.”

Excerpt

“So tell me, young one, is Kat short for something or did your parents just have a

fascination with felines?”

“It’s short for Katrina. But everyone calls me Kat.”

She began to gather the playing cards from the table, but Stephan stilled her shaking hands by covering them with his own. Something akin to an electric current passed between them. Katrina gazed at Stephan, drinking him in, dangerous, magnificent, and so very beautiful.

“Where are my manners?” she asked, her voice quivering. “Would you like a drink?”

“You read my mind,” he replied as he rose, pulling her toward him. “I am a little parched, actually.”

Their eyes locked and Kat once again fell into his dark gaze. Her mind detached, as if she watched herself from above.

The feel of his mouth registered on her lips, while the smell of sandalwood engulfed her. His lips feathered kisses down her jaw, coming to a rest where her shoulder met her throat. She swooned. His arms closed around her like a set of steel bands, pulling her up against his firm body. Kat moaned when his tongue flicked out to taste her sensitive skin. He inhaled deeply against her neck causing goose bumps to pimple her flesh.

“Honeysuckle,” he murmured, his lips brushing against her flesh. His fangs lengthened, scraping the skin where her pulse beat, sending her heart racing. He cupped her bottom in one hand and tightened his arm around her waist. Her body stiffened only a little as he pulled her tighter against him, lifting her off her feet.

Weaver of Dreams

Author

Brenda Sparks

Genre

Fantasy Romance

Book Blurb

When guidance counselor Maggie O'Connell is plagued by terrible nightmares, she believes stress is the reason for her torment, but she couldn't be more wrong. Unfortunately for Maggie, in the shadows of her dreams lurks a Dream Stalker who is addicted to the dark emotions produced by her night terrors.

Zane, a Dream Weaver from another dimension, visits Maggie in her nighttime fantasies to discover there is more than just a Dream Stalker after her. As the man of her fantasies becomes real, Maggie's true nightmare begins.

Excerpt

Humans had no idea Dream Weavers used what they called mirrors as portals. The reflective glass was a perfect cover to hide what lay within. Looking from the human world, people only saw reflections of themselves and their surroundings. But from the other side the vortex was an entryway from the Dream Weaver world. A threshold he used to enter or see into the human dimension.

This night Zane opted to use it as a window, remaining in his dimension as his eyes scanned the room. He needed to be sure not to alert the Dream Stalker. The negative emotions from the human’s dream came through the portal, making him feel uncomfortable. They coated his energy, wrapped around him like tentacles.

He’d never experienced such strong emotions. They weighed heavily upon his energy, surrounding him. Enticing him. But he pulled back, grateful for once that the only way he could absorb the strong emotions would be to push through into the human dimension and take human form.

His gaze swept the modest bathroom. The walls were painted apartment white, blue towels hung from a bar across from the mirror. He looked down on a utilitarian sink and white countertop. Zane was just about to push through the portal and take his corporeal form when movement from the corner of the room caught his eye. He froze, waiting.

Was this the source of the negative emotions? The Dream Stalker?

He senses that their destiny is intertwined and vows do everything in his power to keep her safe. The only problem: demons and witches go together like fire and ice.

Excerpt:

He ghosted behind the couple. Following them on silent feet, staying deep within the shadows of the buildings. Ky noted the way the woman walked as they made their way along the sidewalk. Her legs appeared unsteady, most of her weight supported by the male’s arm around her waist, which seemed strange because she had not consumed that much alcohol at the bar. Only two glasses of wine, by his count. The agent heard her speaking throughout the night, and she had enunciated clearly. Yet now she seemed unsteady, and her words slurred as they left her lips.

She stumbled. Catching on a bit of raised sidewalk, her shoe flew off behind her in Ky’s direction. She turned and glanced over her shoulder. When her eyes met his, Ky’s heart hitched in his chest, time froze.

The bronzed skin of her heart-shaped face appeared flawless. Long dark hair flowed around her shoulders with the turn of her head. Her chocolate eyes captured his, holding his gaze. The fall of her lashes broke the spell, creating dark crescents on her delicate cheekbones. Her petite nose led to full, pouty lips that sent a surge of desire through his body. His sure strides faltered under the weight of her beauty. She was a goddess.

And she was in grave danger.
