Title: Changing the Past

Author: Shawna Delacorte

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Blurb:

Successful freelance photojournalist Meg Wainwright is offered the assignment of her dreams—photographing and writing a new line of travel books for a publisher in the UK. But when she arrives, she learns she’ll be working for the man who walked out on her ten years ago without an explanation and left her heartbroken.

Blaine Reeves regrets leaving the only woman he ever loved. Luring her to London without revealing his involvement might not be his best plan. He can only hope it’s not too late to change the past.

My Review:

Some say you can’t change the past, but Blaine is out the prove them wrong. Will Meg ever forgive him? Changing the Past is an emotional romance about fixing past mistakes and embracing today. The descriptive narration allows the reader to experience everything the characters do. The setting is almost like a character on its own. The characters are well-written, and I connected with each one. The romance is second chance, with the pendulum of emotions swinging back and forth before coming to a satisfactory ending.

Let’s start with the characters. I connected with Meg on so many levels. She’s a successful photographer who gets the chance to live out her dream assignment. She’s blindsided when she meets the one man who broke her heart. I love how Shawna Delacorte incorporates the continual conflict Meg feels. The pain comes across and leaves the reader emotional. Will she forgive Blaine and trust him with her heart? You’ll have to read the book to find out. No spoilers here.

What stood out to me the most is the writing. This is my first time reading Shawna Delacorte and I am impressed. Her ability to weave emotion, tension, character growth and romance into the story while transporting the reader is no small feat. Each scene builds upon the next to create an immersive reading experience. There were times when I read late into the night because I couldn’t put it down.

Brilliant from start to finish, Changing the Past is a moving romance worth reading. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Author Biography:

USA TODAY Best Selling Author Shawna Delacorte lived most of her life in Los Angeles and earned her living for twenty years by working in television production. She combined her interest in writing with her avocation of photography and began writing magazine articles featuring her photographs. After selling several articles, she discovered she enjoyed the writing process as much as the photography.

Her friends told her she should make use of her television contacts and write scripts. She enrolled in a screen writing class at UCLA.  By the close of class, she knew screen writing was not for her. The other thing she discovered was wanting to try her hand at writing a novel.
