My Review:

An imaginative and intriguing YA dystopian with fantasy elements perfect for fans of Hunger Games.

Simone Athilla is a strong female personality with a fiery temper and the braveness of a mother lion in battle. Having never known her birth parents, she cherishes President Felix and his son Trémon who took her in and treated her like family. Her character is the perfect counterpart for the villain, Damian who seeks to overthrow them all but has secrets of his own that change the dynamic of the story.

The world building in the futuristic society is detailed, consistent, and paints a clear picture of the main locales the story takes place in. Also, the scientific and technological components add an interesting element to the storyline.

The plotting and pacing unravels at an even keel with interesting twists and turns, leading to an ending that bridges this story into the upcoming second book in the series.

Fans of young adult fantasy and dystopian will definitely enjoy this intriguing tale.

Author Biography:

Ivette N Diaz is an author of dystopian sci-fi/fantasy novels, an entrepreneur, and a daydreamer who, through the gift of storytelling, hopes to show that there is more to life than just “getting by” and that each person has a unique purpose for their life and a significance worthy of living for.

While not writing, she enjoys reading by an open window while on her circular swivel couch, lounging in the pool to get away from the Florida heat, and dancing to the congas of her Latin culture while in the middle of her living room. She secretly loves Kung-Fu movies and takes daily online kickboxing classes in hopes of one day becoming a true ninja. Her obsession with working out helps to balance her enthusiasm for food, especially gourmet meals prepared by her husband, who is a talented self-taught cook.

You can also find Ivette on her many adventures with her husband and kids, mostly park hopping in Central Florida, while laughing at their antics.
