My Review:
Cal returns to the lion’s den of politics and finds herself a pawn in a very dangerous game. Can she take down a powerful network of crime or will she die at their hands? Corruption in Capital City is the continuation of the Capital City series and this time Calista Caldwell confronts greed and corruption. The dark web of prostitution, drugs, human trafficking, dirty money, and more are detailed with poignant narration and emotional trauma. You may think you know what will happen but think again. Corruption in Capital City will shock you to the very core.
Let’s start with the characters. Calista (or Cal for short) is our unexpected heroine in this story. The strength and fortitude she exuded impressed me. She’s been through a lot and goes through so much more in this story. She’s back in politics and a little wiser. She even finds love before it’s snatched away. She’s fearless in the face of pure evil and she’s what makes Corruption in Capital City an unputdownable read. In essence, Cal is what we all aspire to be.
NG Avant pens a novel so intense, so full of emotion, themes relevant today, you’ll never be the same after reading. It’s brilliant from start to finish and one that needs to be read by every living soul.
