N. N. Light's Book Heaven presents Cynthia Woolf #authorspotlight #westernromance #romance #mustread

Hi, my name is Cynthia Woolf and yes, that’s my real name. I’ve been writing and publishing since July 22. 2011 when I published Centauri Dawn which was based on a dream I had when I was about 15.. I’ve been writing for most of my life, but didn’t publish until 2011. I have a friend who ask me if I wanted to publish my book with her. I had no idea what she was talking about and she told me about Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). I didn’t really think too much about it until I found out I was getting laid off. I had about two months notice and worked hard during that two months to finish my book.

My husband and I decided it was the perfect opportunity to see if I could make it as an author. The economy was not doing great and unemployment benefits were extended, so you could get them for eighteen months if you didn’t find a job. Well, I didn’t and not for lack of trying. But at 55 I was older and more expensive than most employers wanted to pay.

So I kept writing. I published my second book, a historical western romance, Tame A Wild Heart, in January 2012. It was written because of the story my mother told me about meeting my dad.

I took part in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in November 2011 and wrote my second historical western romance, Tame A Wild Wind, which I published in March 2012. I was on my way.

I’ve never looked back. I’m finally doing what I always wanted to do and I’m making a living doing it. I published my 78th book in January. I attend conferences and workshops so I can grow as a writer and I believe I’m getting better and better. I hope you think so, too.

Happy reading,

Cynthia

Excerpt

Willow stared at the man standing in the doorway. This had to be Travis Morgan. Gold streaked his dark hair, probably from being in the sun. He’d combed it straight back, letting it curl at his collar. The black t-shirt he wore emphasized his broad chest and muscular arms, though she wondered how he’d managed to get into the shirt without help.

He needed a shave, though having a three-or-four-day growth of beard was popular now. His rich coffee brown eyes pierced her and drew her. She broke the spell and saw he had a cast to his knee on his left leg and one to the elbow on his left arm.

He looked her up and down. “So, you’re Willow Adams.”

“I...I...I am.” What was wrong with her? She’d seen handsome men before. But this man stole her breath and, clearly, her mind. Recovering her voice, she dipped her chin. “Yes, and this is my daughter, Mindy.” She placed her hand on Mindy’s shoulder.

The girl stepped forward and held her hand out to Travis. “I’m Mindy. Do you ride horses? Can you teach me?”

Willow looked down at her daughter. “Mindy. Stop and let Mr. Morgan enter the kitchen.”

Travis chuckled. “It’s fine. Yes, I ride horses when my leg isn’t busted. But even now, with your mother’s permission, I can probably teach you how to ride...” He looked up at Willow. “Assuming you stay.”

Author Biography

Cynthia Woolf is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of seventy-eight novels. Comprised of sixty-four historical western romances, five contemporary romances, two contemporary romance novellas, one historical western romance novella, and six sci-fi space opera romances, which she calls westerns in space. Along with these books, she has also published nine boxed sets of her books and two short stories.

Cynthia loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance, Tame A Wild Heart, was inspired by the story her mother told her of meeting Cynthia's father on a ranch in Creede, Colorado. Although Tame A Wild Heart takes place in Creede, that is the only similarity between the stories. Her father was a cowboy, not a bounty hunter, and her mother was a nursemaid (called a nanny now), not the ranch owner.

Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband, Jim, and her great critique partners for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.
