My Review:
Daniel lived life on Earth with reckless abandon and died on Mount Everest. “You weren’t supposed to die.” When St. Peter tell Daniel there was a mistake, Daniel gets a second chance to right a wrong and solve his own murder. There are rules, of course, and he’s a different person (Gideon). Can he bring those responsible to justice while keeping those he loves out of harm’s way?
Daniel’s Ticket to Heaven is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Judy Kentrus takes us into the heart and soul of what it means to be human and to live life. There’s a beautiful theme of belief and heaven woven throughout. The characters, though, are what make this book impossible to put down.
Let’s talk about our hero, Daniel/Gideon. He’s such a likable guy, starting with him being introduced as an angel. He’s at peace with himself and the afterlife. But when he’s offered a second chance, his whole outlook changes. Being human again overwhelms Daniel/Gideon and it’s this journey which makes Daniel’s Ticket to Heaven so compelling.
The writing is flawless, as is any of Judy Kentrus’ books. Her ability to bring readers into her story is unparalleled. Be warned: you’ll cry, a lot. Have tissues handy.
