My Review:
Accidentally photographing murder puts Sophie in the crosshairs of killers...good thing Bodie and Team Trojan are ready to protect her. Photographer Sophie Hart needs an escape from a bad break-up. Arriving in Fool's Gold, she agrees to be the wedding photographer for her friend's upcoming wedding. Just what she needs to unwind. Everything is going great until she mistakenly takes pictures of a killing, in a ghost town no less. She's in over her head, especially when it comes to handsome Bodie from Team Trojan. He swears he'll keep her safe but what about her heart? She's falling for her protector but she's just another job to him, right? All he cares about is defending Sophie. As the killers close in on Sophie, she'll have to decide if love is worth the risk of a broken heart.
Defending Sophie is an adrenaline-rushing romantic suspense I couldn't stop reading. I love a good woman in trouble/bodyguard romantic suspense and this one is the best one I've read all year. Desiree Holt is a prolific author who pens unputdownable books. I've been an avid reader of hers for over a decade. Defending Sophie is hands down, her best book to date. The plot moved at a very quick pace with equal parts suspense and romance. I connected with both Bodie and Sophie right away. I also found the hard-working members of Team Trojan easy to connect with. There's a full cast of characters, including unsavory ones, to interact with. The action is well-developed with intricate narration. It read like a movie so there were times my heart beat a staccato. The romance was sublime with plenty of heat. The ending melted my heart. Defending Sophie is a part of a brand new multi-author series and I honestly can't wait to read the other books in the series. If you're a romantic suspense reader, you need to read Defending Sophie. Brilliantly written, Defending Sophie will keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend!
