Her breath was warm and minty. Her lips soft and full of memories. My hands moved around her waist as she moved her eager hips and rested them on top of mine. Reaching below the seat she pressed the lever that guided us all the way back. She could feel I was enjoying this. Her smile told me so. As my hands slowly reached the front of her pants, with my one and only goal being to lose them, a muffled noise caught our attention. In our moment of fun and play and soon to be sex in the passenger seat of Dempsey's cramped car, a ruffle of bushes and a muffled cry caused our plans to come screeching to a disappointing halt.
"What the hell is that?" she asked.
Gail pushed away, rising up to look around. Her unbuttoned shirt fell open, her green bra peeking through. I suddenly realized where we were and was reminded with a cold slap of reality that Dempsey was still missing.
Another muffled sound followed. Gail climbed back to the driver's seat, both of us looking at one another and back to the mysterious sounds.
I was officially confused and afraid. "Is that Dempsey?"
"I don't know," Gail said. Her eyes looked back and forth in the darkness.
I zipped my pants and got out of the car. Everything was silent...again. I took a few steps away from the car. I looked back at Gail as she stepped out of the car.
"What?" she asked.
It suddenly made sense. Why didn't I see this coming?
"Of course," I said.
I started to laugh. I wasn't laughing because it was funny. No, just the opposite.
"What are you laughing at?" She sounded scared, shaky.
"You not going to believe this," I said as I walked back to the car. "We're in the middle of a..."
And then it happened. I wasn't surprised.

Author Biography
I am an author, a husband, a dad and a servant to three human-like cats. It would take another 100 words to tell their story.
I live in Eugene, Oregon. I was born and raised in a small farming town in Northern Washington. Growing up I was positive our valley was the only place on earth. Looking back, it was the perfect place to be.
My stories were born in that little valley. It was rich with people and dreams and baseball mitts and old man Waterson. I swear he was always mad at me. Maybe it had to do with stealing his apples.
