Five Gates. Five Sisters. Five Very Different Men.

Once there were two worlds connected by five gates. Then the Gate Keepers closed the gates and disappeared. The Gate Keepers have returned.

Ripped from her home and sold to the mercenary guild as a child, Kardia Quinones overcame her father’s betrayal and made a place for herself as a respected mercenary. Then war threatens her beloved guild and her homeland.

Sahir Mekala wakes after twenty-three years to find his people on the brink of war and his intended mate unwilling to accept him. But dragons are as stubborn as harpies and he’ll let nothing stop him from claiming her.

When Kardia and Sahir find themselves working together, sparks fly. Despite Kardia’s reluctance to ever trust another male, Sahir sets out to prove exactly how perfect the match between a dragon and harpy can be.

My Review:

“Where would be the fun in that, little harpy?”

Dragon Sahir Mekala awakens after twenty-three years to find his twin sister’s consort in danger and his people on the brink of war. But all that fades from his mind when he sees his mate, Kardia. She’s grown into a beautiful woman and her harpy side warms his heart but is she ready to become his mate? He must try to persuade her he will never betray her or else he might lose her forever. When they combine forces to bring down an enemy intent on bringing war to their peoples, he knows she’s ready to be his mate. Not even death can come between him and his harpy…

Diomere’s Mercenary is a steamy fantasy romance full of intrigue and electric chemistry. Filled with mythological beings, prophecies, betrayal, and action, it’s so much more than a romance. I connected with both main characters right away. Sahir is not just an alpha dragon but has a soft side, too. Kardia, on the other hand, has quite the shield around her heart. Past hurts keep her on her guard and she refuses to be hurt by another male again. The romantic tension between Sahir and Kardia is exhilarating and drives the plot. Speaking of the plot, I really enjoyed the fast pace of it. There are lots going on and it propelled me to keep reading. When their enemy was revealed, it was surprising and added plenty of action until the ending. Sabrina A. Fish is a gifted writer and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Diomere’s Mercenary. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the whole series. If you’re a fan of mythology and steamy fantasy romance, pick up Diomere’s Mercenary today. I can’t wait to read the next in the series. Highly recommend!

My Rating: 5+ stars
