Title: ECHOES OF LOVE

Author: N. Christine Samuelson

Genre: Contemporary Romance -with mystical elements

Book Blurb:

What if the mysteries of your life began before you were born, and echo into your future?

Carson, an artist from Santa Fe moves to Montana to begin a new life. But an unexpected encounter brings her into conflict with Cody, an architect and ranch manager from Wyoming. The immediate power and beauty of their connection is as spectacular as the landscapes they walk through, but just as fated, unpredictable and complex.

Carson and Cody are haunted by their pasts with memories and repetition of tragedy and loss but also by great love that echoes through lifetimes into their present lives. Their futures are fated unless they face and conquer past mistakes and have the courage to live out their eternal bond of love. But how do they move forward after losses so devastating they believe love isn’t possible? What makes their lives worth living? Their seemingly unresolvable conflicts span geography and time, from the tangible beauty of the American West through an elusive journey echoing over hundreds of years and two continents. Even with best intentions, nothing is guaranteed except one thing, and only they can discover it.

Excerpt:

Cody bellowed and slapped the table with his hand. “Well, look at the two of us sitting here. Who’d ever believe it? Buffalo Bill Cody and Kit Carson!”

They laughed so hard they cried. Seeing each other through delight, tears, candlelight, and immense joy, they instinctively reached across the table and clasped their hands together. Carson felt a surge of energy circle through and around them, so powerful in presence it almost took form, a ring swirling in electrically-charged air, the feel of lightning close by. The hair on her arms rose. She watched as Cody rubbed at his arm, said he felt a chill, presumably feeling the same thing. For Carson, a tangible bond felt created, a seeming reunion of souls who knew each other well but somehow had gotten lost from the other. But does he feel it, too?

They cleared the table, still laughing. Cody shook his head slowly side to side while filling the sink to wash the dishes. “Unbelievable—Mr. Cody Cody, and Ms. Carson Carson! What a pair.”

What a pair, indeed, she thought but didn’t say the words.

After they’d cleaned up, he gathered bed linens and a down comforter then filled the stove with wood to keep her warm for the night. Carson prepared a makeshift bed on the sofa and settled in, waiting for him to finish in the bathroom. On his way upstairs, he thanked her for the best evening he’d had in a long time as he brushed his hand affectionately along the top of her head. She caught his pinky finger with hers. “Me, too.”

“Good night, sweet dreams.” He waited two beats, then added, “Carson Carson.”

Her smile was full of joy as she blew him a kiss.

Cody put his hand up, grabbed the kiss in the air then turned to walk up the stairs, knowing she couldn’t see what he’d do next. Hidden from her view, he took the freshly caught kiss and placed it over his heart. He walked out onto the deck still holding his hand to his chest, looked up into the star-filled sky and whispered, “Thank you,” then put the kiss to his lips.

But Carson did see, in the intuitive way she often could. She knew how deeply he cared but couldn’t show it, how appreciative he was but couldn’t say it. Whatever was happening between her and Cody felt unbelievably rare and perfectly beautiful, un-namable but definitely real—two souls with similar pasts, similar hearts. It could be the start of something great, Carson hoped, but who knew if she was at the hands of fate. She listened intently for the wind but there was none. She looked out the window for the tumbleweed, but none blew by. Clutching a pillow to her chest, she looked to the ceiling, to the room above where he now slept, and whispered, “Thank you.”
