Book Blurb:

A formal declaration of love scares the bejesus out of small-town Detective Rory Naysmith. My Review:

Gone Crazy is categorized as a Cozy Mystery on Amazon. The author, Terry Korth Fischer, labels her Rory Naysmith Mysteries as Cozy Crime. I think there is a fine distinction between the two. Cozy Mystery, at least as I’ve understood it, involves amateur sleuths, usually mature in age, solving the crime. Detective Naysmith is a seasoned small-town cop. Whichever genre this book is labeled, it’s thoroughly enjoyable.

Rory and Esther are mature adults with a growing relationship. Rory is pretty awkward, but Esther takes it in stride. He’s all caught up and planning how to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her when a poet is murdered at the event they attend. He has to push his private life aside to handle the case. But as it turns out, Esther is in the middle of the murder mystery. He fears for her life, yet it turns out Esther is a lovely, strong woman. The relationship they have is so real. The author is excellent at painting the interaction between them.

The characters in Gone Crazy are well defined be it good guys, or gals, or villains. The plot is twisty enough, I didn’t figure out just who the villain was until the end. This isn’t what I would call a page-turner. It is an easy-going read, comfortable, enjoyable. I quite literally felt “cozy” every time I picked it up again, although I’m not sure it’s a true Cozy Mystery. It is, however, enjoyable, which is what I require in a fiction story.
