Title: Gravity

Author: Mona Sedrak

Genre: Women’s Fiction, Romance

Book Blurb:

After being shunned by her Middle Eastern family, medical assistant Leila Solomon struggles to build a life for herself and her child. Landscape photographer Aiden Stone built a career seeing what others miss, and the second he meets Leila, he is drawn to her unassuming beauty and fragile strength.

Leila cannot defy the gravitational forces pulling her toward Aiden and to the family who cast her out. To build a future with Aiden, she must face the past but is she strong enough to resist being pulled back into the family fold?

Excerpt:

Relationships were difficult enough when the individuals involved shared a common language and culture. Leila knew of only a handful of couples who succeeded in mixing cultures. Even if she made peace with her family, she knew they would never accept Aiden. In their eyes, he would be an American––an outsider––who couldn’t understand their ways.

She took a deep breath and filled her lungs with his heady masculine scent mixed with the ocean breeze. His intoxicating scent swirled around her brain and quieted her fears–– silencing the voices of doom and crumbling the final vestiges of her defenses. Leila sighed, and she sagged against him. She opened her eyes and met Aiden’s steady gaze.

“Gravity.” She murmured.

“Hmm?” Aiden raised an eyebrow and smiled.

“No matter the barriers my brain conjures, it’s useless.” She shrugged.

“Baby, I’m not following you. What’s useless?” Frowning, he tilted his head.

“I can’t stay away.” Leila looked away. “We are as different as two people can be. You are the sun and I the moon.” She met his gaze. “Gravity has me in its grasp, and I can’t defy it.”

Aiden kissed her forehead and settled back against the lounger.

She sat between his legs with her back resting against his chest.

“Me neither. From the second I met you, I was drawn in ways I couldn’t explain.” He circled her with his arms. “Don’t fight the gravitational force.”

What’s the first binge-worthy book you read and why was it a must-read?

I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan. Although I binge on many of his books, my favorite book by Mr. Sparks is At First Sight. It is a story of love and marriage, family, love, loss, and resilience. I am a romantic at heart and believe in second chances, especially when life has kicked the stuffing right out of you. Mr. Sparks always takes the reader on an emotional journey that runs them through the gamut of all emotions––from deep sorrow to overwhelming joy. His books are a wonderful read, but At First Sight, is a must read.

What makes your featured book a binge-worthy read?

According to Ind’Tale, “Gravity is a compelling story filled with longing, hope, love, tradition, and triumph! Ms. Sedrak delivers an emotionally beautiful tale of two people yearning for happiness, family, and love with wonderful insight, humor, and grace.”

K.C. Finn – Reader’s Favorite states, “I’d highly recommend Gravity as a must-read for fans of women’s fiction, emotive high drama and realistic fiction novels.”

Gravity is a women’s fiction novel with romantic elements. The story is about Leila Solomon who after being shunned by her traditional Egyptian family, longs to return home to confront them and possibly mend fences. Aiden Stone, a famous landscape photographer, feels an instant pull the second he meets Leila after she helps him calm his young special needs child. While Aiden must resolve issues with his son’s mother who abandoned the child at birth but suddenly returns, Leila must learn to stand up for herself and realize she is worthy of happiness and love. The two single parents have complicated lives, but they cannot deny the gravitational forces drawing them together.

Readers will relate to both lead characters as they deal with the complexities of their chaotic lives as single parents while falling in love. Their past is filled with abandonment, betrayal, and abuse. But their lives are filled with precious, supportive friends that become like family and rich blossoming careers that give them a sense of growth and accomplishment despite the challenges they face. At the heart of the story are themes of hope, forgiveness, tolerance, understanding, and of course, love. For readers who enjoy learning about new cultures and traditions as well as losing themselves in a beautifully written story that inspires and reminds them that although we are each unique, our similarities outweigh our differences, this story is binge-worthy!
