For the past four years, Tamsyn Norwood has operated the family’s pumpkin patch and corn maze. Although the business barely breaks even. During college, she spent a glorious night in a pumpkin patch with her boyfriend. Sadly, that relationship didn’t last, but she has worked hard to recreate the special feeling for others. If the patch income doesn’t improve by November first, her father threatens to plow the acres for a cash crop. She works herself ceaselessly to come up with supporting activities to keep the business going.

Ex-professional football player Harper Ashton is in town visiting an old college buddy. Released from his team because of an injured elbow, he’s at a crossroads over what comes next in his life. Life in this small town is nothing he’s ever experienced, and he soaks in the sense of community. He crosses paths with a college sweetheart, and suddenly, he has a new goal. Maybe his marketing degree and his famous name will help her struggling enterprise.

Working together reminds them of their college years.  But can they recapture a love under the harvest moonlight?

Excerpt:

She eased away her arm, then jammed both hands on her hips.

The posture pulled her T-shirt tight across her chest. The motion reminded him of hugs and cuddles when their bodies radiated heat and her soft curves felt so right against his muscled chest. He fought to maintain eye contact. “We need to talk. I thought we’d already worked this out.”

Pressing her lips tight, she swallowed hard. “I can’t do this right now.”

“Understood.” Unwilling to let her cut and run like she had in the past, he braced his legs shoulder-width apart. “I can’t expect you to change existing plans.” Although I want to. Now that he’d seen her, he wanted her all to himself—at least, until he dispelled whatever bad feelings she so obviously harbored. “Tell me when and where.”

Shaking her head, she gazed down at her feet. “I don’t know what you hope to gain. But I won’t fight you.” She reached into the purse hanging off her shoulder and pulled out a business card. “My office, tomorrow at ten. Does that work?”

He ran a thumb over the embossed print on the ivory card while reading. Tamsyn Norwood, Community Liaison, Norwood Enterprises. “I’ll make it work, Tam.”

Her head came up. “No one calls me that anymore, Harper. I go by Tamsyn now.” She spun and moved toward the exit.

Watching her stride from the house, he had to remember to close his gaping mouth. His Tam had always been sweet and accommodating. Whatever happened to toughen her spine must have been major. Suddenly, he couldn’t wait until tomorrow to see her again.

What’s your favorite thing about autumn:

I love the crispness in the air, the colors as the leaves change, the first fire in the fireplace, and the need to bundle up under an afghan on the couch.

What inspired you to write this story:

I love reunion romances because I can manipulate the circumstances so the characters get a chance to work out things they got wrong before. And I couldn’t resist setting this in Texas where I lived for twelve years,
