Title: HEART STORMS
Author: N. Christine Samuelson
Genre: Women’s Fiction, Contemporary Romance
Book Blurb:
Three people’s lives collide in a perfect storm of heartbreak and ruin, betrayal and love. One woman and two men are drawn to coastal South Carolina to an oceanfront Victorian B & B inn. With losses from divorce, lies, secrets, cheating spouses, and abandonment, all three people do not seek love or relationship.
As they move into and through the emotional storm of their lives, however, destiny brings them together in an extraordinary way. But will they be destroyed or transformed by their fates?
An enchanting seaside inn complete with mystical elements lifts the characters’ spirits and helps them on their journeys. Their passionate triangle must be broken for them to move on with their lives, but who ends up with whom, or do they, and when?
Excerpt:
Before his truck reached Jade’s house to drop her off, he said, “It’s only ten o’clock, but I guess it’s too late to have a drink together, huh?”
“It would be nice, but we shouldn’t with work tomorrow and all.”
“And all what?” His look was of craving something he couldn’t have.
“You know. This was an amazing day. I like you so much, but we said we’d take this slow. With the things we shared, I don’t trust myself sitting with you in front of the fire with a glass of wine, with you making me laugh and feel good.”
“I’m good at making you feel good, aren’t I?”
“Yes, and you’re what I’m afraid of.”
He jumped out his door, walked over, helped her out of the truck and took her hands. “Before you leave, would you be afraid of a kiss goodnight, a real kiss?”
“Yes.”
“What a shame,” he said, placing a light kiss on her cheek, testing her reaction by lingering and waiting for her response. It was obvious to him she felt exactly as he did, but he gave her the courtesy of making her own move.
Jade sensed the electricity in the air between them. She’d never experienced such charged energy with any man. Was it his technique, his charm, his sexiness? No—she had experienced those things before, and they eventually wore off. What he had was unusual, deep and directly connected to the same elements in her. It was physically impossible to back away from his lips on her cheek.
She turned her mouth toward his, giving him the answer he wanted. He kissed her so softly, with lips warm and luscious. She melted under his spell, a merging of body and emotions that would linger into tomorrow leaving a swath of desire. Even without words to describe it in the days ahead, the feeling would resurrect in their bodies.

When they met at work the next morning—they’d both been busy at their respective jobs—but looked at each other from afar and their heat spread in the air between them. Jade felt like a river pulled toward an inevitable waterfall. He was the cliff and she had no choice but to flow up to him and over his edge.
When he saw Jade, heat rose in him like he was a square of rich chocolate melting in a hot pan. He had to look away from her or he’d completely liquify. Dangerous, she was. He called her later and told her so.
Her reply? “We’re dangerous together. Now I understand why you’re a ‘bad boy’ in the best kind of way.”

What’s your favorite part about being a romance author?
There’s so much love in the world and it’s expressed in so many different ways. I love being able to stretch the boundaries of love and romance to write stories that inspire or give hope, that takes people to places they haven’t been; to expose them to ideas and situations they never experienced.
I try to give readers the opportunity to explore the world and beyond through stories of love, through passionate characters who love and cry and hurt; who are broken and recover and love again. We all have a version of that story in our lives, and I love writing about life as it’s lived through love and relationships of all kinds.
Here’s my tip to add romance to your love life:
Listen. Listen well to your partner/loved one about his/her needs, desires, wants and dreams. Listen and remember the details. Then surprise them with one of those things they’ve mentioned even in passing, when they might say, ‘oh, that’s looks great’; or ‘I’d love to do that someday’; or ‘wouldn’t that be fun?’ or ‘I’ve always wanted that.’ You get the idea.
It doesn’t have to be a big, expensive thing. It doesn’t have to cost money. You can just DO something special—give them a day off from work or chores to do something fun. Arrange a day trip or long weekend. It can be something simple. But what it does is tell them that you cared enough to listen, remember and treat them in a special way that you treat only them. Pick up gifts all year when your loved one drops a hint and save them for a special occasion.
Great surprises are very romantic and loved, but only when they are genuinely wanted, desired or needed. Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone, and here’s to planning an amazing surprise for the love of your life!
