Book Blurb:

When investigative journalist Hannah Marchand is assigned a story that involves driving twelve hundred kilometers north of her home in Vancouver to a remote archaeological site, she’s less than thrilled. A story on an excavation in northern British Columbia won’t garner her the coveted front page, but the assignment will get her out of town and away from the ex-boyfriend who’s stalking her.

After a reporter wrote an article accusing him of mishandling an important artifact, Indigenous archaeologist, Roman Patrick’s career was nearly destroyed. It’s taken him five years to rebuild his reputation and be entrusted with running another excavation.

Despite the handsome archaeologist’s animosity toward reporters, unbridled attraction flares. When items around camp go missing, Hannah suspects her stalker has followed her, determined to seek revenge.

As their feelings deepen, she and Roman must learn to trust each other if they hope to survive the man who’s hunting her.

Excerpt:

The roar of a vehicle’s motor shattered the morning quiet.

Hannah peeked over her small car’s hood.

A large, black SUV pulled out of a cross street and cruised down the road toward her, the driver focused on steering the large vehicle between the parked vehicles lining both sides of the residential street.

Her breath whooshed out in an explosion of air.

Not him! Not this time.

Face heating at her foolishness, she glanced around, hoping no one had witnessed her cowering in fear. A flicker of white stopped her. She frowned.

A small white sheet of paper was stuck under her windshield wiper, a ragged corner flapping in the morning breeze.

A trill of unease rippled along her spine, and she whipped around and once again studied her surroundings.

Nothing.

No suspicious idling vehicle, no dark figure lurking in a doorway.

The paper was probably a flyer announcing a local garage sale or a fundraiser. She leaned over the hood, lifted the wiper blade, and tugged out the sheet. Unfolding it, she gasped.

Written in bold red marker were the words, True love never dies.

The paper dropped from her nerveless fingers and fluttered to her feet. A gust of wind caught it, and the ominous note blew into the street, landing in a puddle left over from the previous night’s rain.
