Title: Jeremy’s Home / There’s Always Hope
Author: Susan Payne
Genre: Historical Western Women’s Fiction
Book Blurb:
Jeremy Macgregor makes a life altering choice to remain in his home town. Will his decision bring his family closer or drive four brothers apart forever?
Excerpt:
“So, Clarissa’s on board with all this? She’s willing to stay a few years and then maybe move on?” Jessie asked doubtfully.
“I don’t think Clarissa will be staying. We seem to have come to an impasse and I’m surprised at how unconcerned I find myself about that. She just seems different here. I don’t know how, but I find I don’t think I really know her and what I do know, I don’t like. Does that sound like cold feet or do you think she changed?” asked Jeremy seriously.
“I think this trip home did what it was supposed to do. It made you look at her as part of your family and she doesn’t fit. And I don’t want to crush you or anything but she doesn’t act like a woman in love. She has a plan, for herself, her life and she is simply trying to find a man who fits in with that plan. I don’t think you’re that man and I don’t think Clarissa cares overly much. Another man will do as nicely.” Afraid he might have hurt his brother’s pride if not his feelings, asked, “Did I say too much?”
