Title: Let No Clan Put Asunder
Author: Judith Sterling
Genre: Gothic Cozy Mystery
Book Blurb:
“It was no small thing to marry into the Donnachaidh clan, and there was nowhere to hide from its past.”
So states the tagline of the gothic mystery Gwyneth Camm discovers out of place—not once, but twice—inside her newly inherited Salem home. Her deceased Aunt Ethel seems determined she read the book, and once again, Gwyn finds herself sucked into a gothic romance, inhabiting the body of its heroine.
This time, she’s a young bride in 1970 on her way to a clifftop castle that harbors secrets, Scottish legacies, hidden malice, and…a vampire? Only by learning the truth can she return to her own life, where yet another puzzle awaits.
My Review:
Gwyn is thrust into another gothic mystery where her fiancé is thought to be a vampire and his family is shrouded in shadows. As family secrets are revealed, Gwyn’s life is in danger. Can she discover the truth before she becomes a victim herself? Wow, I loved every minute of Let No Clan Put Asunder. The narration and world-building suck you into the story. The characters are relatable and mysterious. The gothic vibe is woven throughout this story. Truly, I couldn’t put Let No Clan Put Asunder down.
Let’s start with the characters. Gwyn is a delightful heroine and I connected with her right away. She’s written in such a way that allows the reader to become a part of the story. Gwyn is adaptable to any circumstances which makes for a terrific reading experience.
The rest of the characters captured my attention. Poor Garrett. He’s enamoured by the ‘dark gift’ and so wants to live in the supernatural. Fiona is another great character. She befriends Gwyn but is carrying a secret or three. Each character has a tale to tell, and I was riveted. I read late into the night just to see what happened next.
If you’re like me and love all things gothic, you’ll want to read Let No Clan Put Asunder. Blending gothic romance with cozy mystery, this book gets under your skin faster than a vampire’s kiss. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
My Rating: 5++ stars
