I’d like to introduce you to prolific author M.S. Spencer.
Question 1: Where were you ten years ago in relation to your author/writer career? If you weren’t writing, what were you doing?
That was a crazy time. I had already published 9 books when my publisher closed, so in the years 2015 and 2016 I had them republished by 2 different publishers. They were true 2nd editions, since I re-edited them with new covers. Between 2015 and 2016 I published eight books!
Question 2: Looking back on the past ten years, how has your writing grown?
I think my writing has improved immensely (practice, practice, practice). Plus I am much better organized. My mysteries are intricate with lots of red herrings and twists, so I have to be very careful about consistency. I now keep lots of timelines and sub-plot outlines, so the drafting actually goes faster.
Question 3: What are you doing now? How many books have you published?
Still writing up a storm—it keeps me busy while I wait for my house to be rebuilt after Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Coming in June 2025 will be my eighteenth book: Railroad Ties: the Marmion Grove Murders.

Author Biography:
Award-winning, multi-published author M. S. Spencer has lived or traveled in five of the seven continents and holds degrees in Anthropology, Middle East Studies, and Library Science. She has worked as a librarian, anthropologist, research assistant, Congressional aide, speechwriter, and nonprofit director. In June, 2025 she will have published eighteen romantic suspense and mystery novels. She has two children, an exuberant granddaughter, and currently divides her time between the Gulf Coast of Florida and a tiny village in Maine.
