N. N. Light

N. N. Light’s Book Heaven is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Isn’t that wonderful?

I’d like to introduce you to romance author Margaret Izard.

Question 1: Where were you ten years ago in relation to your author/writer career? If you weren’t writing, what were you doing?

2015 was my triplet’s Junior year in High School. Back then, I focused on their development and education. In the spring, we headed into the theatre’s musical, Once Upon a Mattress, where my daughter was a chorus member and son #2 built sets. I had lent my dance expertise by doing all the choreography for the production. In addition, I sewed many of the costumes. There were many band events for son #1, who played trumpet and still does.

How does this relate to my writing? Since I was young and involved in performing arts, I’ve always told stories. With my undying dedication to the triplets, I tutored them through school. When they finished college, the desire to write was very strong since I’d held back my own interest for so long, bringing us to today, where I spend most of my time writing or editing my stories.

Question 2: Looking back on the past ten years, how has your writing grown?

I started seriously writing five years ago just wanting to share my stories. Once I wrote a book, I had to learn to write well. The storytelling was pretty good, but the craft of writing needed work. With much effort, I’ve improved my skills to elevate my stories. As with my dancing/acting training, writing is an ongoing learning process I work to improve with each book.

Question 3: What are you doing now? How many books have you published?

After almost two and a half years in the querying trenches searching for an agent or publisher, in 2023 I found a home with Wild Rose Press. My first series, Stones of Iona, is nearly complete with seven books and three Christmas Companion books. Looking ahead, I plan to venture forth with my shape-shifting dragons, which I first introduced in the Stones of Iona book 1, Stone of Love. Look for Dragons of Tantallon in 2026.

Stones of Iona Series

Human emotion powers the magic stones. Apart, they are strong; together, they are all-powerful. In the wrong hands, the stones could destroy the world. Travel to parts of the world in the present and the past as we follow multiple characters on the quest to restore the magic stones.

Fall in love over and over with the new series, Stones of Iona. For centuries, the Fae charged the MacDougall family with guarding the magic Fae stones. In one fateful moment, the monarchs of the family die in a horrible accident. In a panic, the good Fae cast the handheld magic gems across space and time to protect them from the evil Fae. The current generation of the MacDougalls must seek the lost stones and return them to the Chapel in the Woods at Dunstaffnage Castle in Scotland for safekeeping for all mankind.
