Just because they could get married doesn’t necessarily mean they should…

All Lord Leonidas Westbrook wanted was a new adventure in Greece. Saving a pretty lass from abduction was not on his itinerary. In fact, doing so made him miss the tide and ruined all his plans. But regardless, he knew helping the woman was the right thing to do. He never imagined he’d end up proposing a marriage of convenience…or that he’d fall for her. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened…

Primrose McKessick fled Scotland to avoid an arranged marriage. It worked, too. Until she was almost kidnapped, that is. After all she’d been through, having to accept help from the handsome Leonidas was bad enough. But accepting his unconventional proposal? That was madness. Especially if she hoped to escape this misadventure with her heart intact…

Choosing each other—and happily ever after—might cost Leonidas and Primrose their life-long dreams. Is their fledgling relationship strong enough to survive their differences? Or are these opposites destined to go their separate ways?

My Review:

Primrose flees Scotland and lands in the arms of a handsome lord, but can she guard her heart from love? Collette Cameron has penned a beautiful touching romance. Minuet at Midnight has everything I look for in a romance and more. The characters are engaging and unforgettable. The action and intrigue propel the story. The romance, though, will sweep you off your feet.

Let’s start with the characters. I connected with Primrose in so many ways. She’s a feisty heroine who wears her emotions for all to see. She’s been through a lot yet keeps a level head. After being rescued by Lord Leonidas, she must make some tough decisions. Primrose is very well-written and portrayed. Her POV is entertaining and insightful. Lord Leonidas is a consummate hero who is captivated by Primrose. He gives up his voyage to Greece to help her and keep her safe. Before he realizes it, he’s in love and must make her his. The rest of the characters are true to the time period and flesh out the story.

The romance covers several tropes, and I was hooked from the start. It’s an instant attraction but builds slowly. They don’t rush into anything. There is a fair bit of misunderstanding and drama. I kept urging them on and hoping they’d realize what they have. The ending was so wonderful.

If you’re looking for a historical romance with all the emotion, you’ll love Minuet at Midnight. Collette Cameron has written another flawless gem.
