Title: My Love is Deep
Author: Barbara Avon
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Book Blurb:
"I'm not ashamed for having loved. It is, I was once told, the best reason for dying and the only reason for living." Peter Travis is an attractive, single man in his 50's. Yet he's lonely. He was engaged once but his heart is empty now. He lives a quiet life in the country, just outside of Ottawa and although he has had his fair share of offers, he refuses to date. One woman remains on his mind and even more so now, after he receives a letter. After nearly 20 years apart, she's invited him to meet her once again, at the tree in Niagara Falls where they were engaged in 1986. Peter must fight with his own demons and summon the courage to reunite with his true love, a feisty Italian beauty who approached him in a bar in downtown Ottawa in the 80's. Will he have the courage to put his heart on the line once again? What forces will prevent them from rekindling their love?
"My Love is Deep" is set in the year 2000 with 1980's flashbacks, describing a love that many of us seek and some never find. Above all else, it will remind you to love deep, always.
Excerpt:
When she let go and walked away, I grew frantic with fear. I ran to the front door ahead of her and stood in her way. I tried to push her ring back on her finger. I even got down on my knees. It was almost funny the way she did the same, like she did the night we got engaged. She cupped my face in her hands and said, “I can be your friend, but nothing else. If we were to get married and it didn’t work out, it would end me. I will always love you, Peter, always.”
I felt like I was dying inside. Despite my role in the breakup, I never imagined it would end. Every stupid thing I had said until then was just a way to appease my own guilt. I didn’t mean for it to end. We had made a commitment to each other. How could she forget that? Didn’t she remember that? My desperation turned to anger. I was angry at her for ending it, and I was angry at myself for letting it happen. It was over. Was it over? How could it be over? I was crying, and terrified, and in the end, I thought to do the only thing I could think of. I stood tall, opened the front door, and said, “To hell with you then.”

What makes your featured book a must-read?
“My Love is Deep” is in answer to the question in the famous Bee Gees song title, “How Deep is Your Love”. Briana, my female protagonist loves that song. She’s a free spirit, a hopeless romantic, and Peter’s true love. It’s a must-read for anyone who remembers that feeling when they first fell in love with their soulmate. It’s for anyone who now feels the sting of being alone. If you like suspense, see how he fares on his drive to Niagara Falls to see Briana after nearly twenty years apart. Peter is my oldest protagonist. This is book one, and I tell the story through his eyes, but he’s the hero of three other standalone novels in the “Peter Travis Love Stories” series, and he’s so easy to fall in love with. Plus, if you love the 80s, get ready for some 80s nostalgia featured in the flashbacks!
