Welcome to N. N. Light Editing Services, part of N. N. Light Author Promotions. We offer a full range of editing services including Manuscript Review, Development Editing, Structural Editing, Copy/Line Editing, and Proofreading. While we're proficient in all areas, our specialties are copy editing, line editing, and proofreading. Before we explain the different services, let us introduce ourselves.

Mrs. N is an author (along with Mr. N) of five books. Our combined fifty-seven-year expertise while working in the publishing industry has helped us tremendously in how to write, edit, review, market and promote books in today’s publishing market. We love helping writers achieve their dream of being a successful author. Mrs. N has a Bachelor of Arts - English Literature degree.

Mr. N has always loved reading and reviewing books. Joining forces with his wife, they write together under the pen name N. N. Light and he especially loves helping other authors succeed. Mr. N has a Master of  Arts - History degree.

These are the editing services we provide:

Manuscript Review

Get a professional report on your manuscript before you query literary agents/publishers. We will read through your manuscript and provide a detailed report to help you get published.

Development Editing
The developmental edit looks deeply at the bare bones and foundation of the story. We look at everything from pacing to characters, point of view, tense, plot, subplots, and dialogue. Weak plotlines are exposed and questioned. We examine order, flow, and cohesion.
Structural Editing
The substantive edit considers a story’s structure and arrangement. It involves tightening and clarifying at each level (chapter, scene, paragraph, and sentence). Unlike developmental editing, which covers the overall issues and deep-level restructuring, substantive editing deals with the actual words.
Copy Editing
The copy edit is the first professional polish to a story. We review your manuscript, fixing any spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. If an author can only afford one round of edits, we recommend this one.
Line Editing
The line edit is an intensive look at your book line by line and analyzes each sentence. We consider word choice and the power and meaning of a sentence, tightening where we feel is necessary. We use The Chicago Manual of Style as our reference.
Proofreading
The proofread involves looking at each sentence with fresh eyes and making sure that it's well crafted with no errors. Proofreading involves checking for grammatical and punctuation errors, spelling mistakes, etc. Proofing is the final stage of the writing process.
How we operate:
We use track changes in Microsoft Word for all editing services. This allows us to communicate areas of improvement and changes that need to be made.
We invoice via Paypal and need a 50% deposit payment before we start on any editing project. Upon completion of the edit, we require the remainder of the balance owed without delay. We can also receive the full amount before we start editing.
If you would like a sample edit, we provide a complimentary 500-word edit. Please email us for more details.

Huge shoutout to N. N. Light for proofreading a book I’m helping a group of rebbetzins (Rabbis’ wives) publish.
