Title: Once Upon a Christmas Cookie

Author: Katie O’Sullivan

Genre: holiday contemporary romance

Book Blurb:

Matt Jamieson is done with casual hookups, but his playboy reputation isn’t easy to shake off. Volunteering with his niece’s scout troop is the ticket to showing everyone he’s ready to settle down, but the fiery redhead who pushes all his buttons is an obstacle he didn’t anticipate.

Chelsea Greene never meant to move back to Cape Cod. Thanks to grad school loans and a mountain of debt from her cheating ex, she’s once again sleeping in her childhood bed. But when the holidays and the annual open house competition roll around, her mom asks for a favor she can’t refuse.

All Chelsea needs to do is go on a date with the obnoxious guy from the craft fair to get the cookie recipe her mother needs. But when one date turns into two, and then three… can they still blame it on the Snickerdoodles? Or is there a pinch of holiday magic in that secret recipe?

Excerpt:

So the hot dad selling ugly ornaments wanted to buy her a drink?

Not gonna happen.

Granted, the bearded guy behind the table was handsome as sin, with dark hair curling slightly at the nape of his neck and sparkling eyes the color of the summer sky. And so good looking it should be illegal. Like, romance novel cover handsome. Taller than she was, with wide shoulders and large, strong looking hands, a trim waist, smelling vaguely of cinnamon… or maybe that was the ornaments and cookies… She forced herself to stop checking him out.

He might be sex-on-a-stick, but he was not on the menu.

On the same page? Hell, they weren’t even reading the same book. He might look like a cover model for happily-ever-after stories, but men who cheated on their partners were lower than pond scum in her book. Been there, done that. Never going down that road again.

Chelsea held out her dollar bill until he finally took it. She blindly grabbed one of the bedazzled macaroni ornaments, not letting her eyes stray from his. Maybe under different circumstances she’d be flattered by his offer, but she had no interest in dating a married man. Not even one as tall, broad, and confident as the specimen standing in front of her.

Those summer blue eyes hardened to winter ice.

She assumed the offer of drinks slipped off the table along with his smile.

He plucked the bill from her fingers and shoved it into the decorated box holding the rest of the cash. Crossing his arms over his muscled chest, he stared her down. “Do you want something else?”

“You said every purchase came with a bag of cookies.” Chelsea extended her open palm to Hot Dad. Wiggled her fingers in a gimme gimme sort of gesture.

He huffed out a heavy breath and reached into a tote on the edge of the table. He dropped a sandwich-sized baggie into her open palm.

Chelsea eyed the cookies, which were round and light in color with a dusting of darker spice and crystals on top. Not that she was any kind of cookie expert, but she’d been around her mother’s cookie wars long enough to take a passing interest. “What kind are these?”

“Snickerdoodles,” he said with a grimace. “Old family recipe.”

She couldn’t help the sarcastic grin curling her lips. Was every baked good around here from an old family recipe? “Thanks. And thank your wife for me as well.” She spun on her heel and walked away before he could sputter out a response. Because honestly, what could he say? That he baked the cookies on his own? Yeah right. Highly unlikely.

November is a time to be thankful. What are you most thankful for this year?

I am most thankful for my family, that we are all healthy and happy.

Why is your featured book worth snuggling up to?

With the holidays approaching, I always think it’s fun to snuggle up with a holiday romance. My new book is set on Cape Cod, and showcases several of the annual holiday events that take place around the Cape. Back in the day, I was that mom standing behind the table of ugly scout ornaments, and I stood in line with my Saint Bernard to have her photo taken with Santa, and took my mother on the cookie stroll to see the historic homes. I had a lot of fun writing this story and incorporating real events as a fun way for my couple to meet and interact.
