My Review:
Murder and threats to Callie Clark throw her into the arms of a man she can’t stand. Is it a perfect pairing, like orange and vanilla, or doomed to fail, like oil and water? Callie’s dream is about to open for business when she happens upon a murder and the return of a killer from years past. She turns to groundskeeper Dean Lowry for help, even though he hates her. When hate turns to something more romantic, Callie wonders what to make of him. With a killer on the loose, Callie must solve the mystery and maybe even find the treasure before it’s too late.
Orange Cream Dreams and Murderous Schemes is an addictive romantic suspense, perfect to read while sunbathing or relaxing by the pool. There’s an enemies-to-lovers romance which I found delightful. I appreciate the fact that even though Callie’s family is wealthy and Dean’s is not, there’s a level of respect for the other. While the attraction is immediate, this couple has a lot to work through. The suspense subplot is written so well, I kept trying to figure it out while I wasn’t reading. Who’s the killer? What are they after? Can Callie and Dean solve it? D.M. Grant is a debut author yet Orange Cream Dreams and Murderous Schemes doesn’t covey that. The plot progression is superb, the characters leaped from the pages, the suspense kept the reader invested and the ending was extremely satisfactory. Ice cream romance and murder… the perfect combination for a beach read this summer. I look forward to reading more from this author. Highly recommend!
